Delhi: In a dramatic twist, the Mumbai Police has announced that it has arrested three main suspects in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique on October 12. Among them is the main shooter, with the police pointing out support from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang-organized crime group, involved in several violent crimes spread all over India.
Details of the Arrest
According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, these are the men arrested in a joint operation from Uttar Pradesh. These arrests were after long-term surveillance and intelligence gathering with detailed mapping of the entire chain that had planned and carried out this murder. As per reports, the arrested men allegedly were supplied with weapons, money, and all logistics needs by a larger crime syndicate, which had kept them undercover for some time.
Role of Lawrence Bishnoi Gang
The investigation has been linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, accused of committing the crime. The gang, known for its bloodiest crimes, has been behind several major cases and gets the job done using intimidation and violence. According to the police, the gang had facilitated the shooters with resources to assassinate Siddique outside his son’s office in the Bandra area of Mumbai. This is a disturbing trend wherein criminal organizations have gradually started to orchestrate politically motivated attacks.
Next step in the investigation
Along with these arrests, Mumbai Police are further zeroing in on the tracking of more individuals suspected to have assisted in this crime. Other suspects for whom lookout notices have also been issued may themselves try to flee the country. Authorities are working closely with all national agencies to prevent such movements and to apprehend all involved in the crime. This case scenario has taken another significant stride in the efforts of the Mumbai Police against organized crime in Maharashtra.
