NDA Bihar Seat-Sharing Declared: BJP, JDU Receive 101 Each, Chirag Paswan Party Gets 29

NDA Bihar

Putting an end to weeks of suspense and in-house discussions, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Monday officially declared its seat-sharing arrangement for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly polls. The decision was taken after a secret meeting in Patna between top leaders of the BJP, JD(U), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and minor allies.

BJP and JD(U) Equal Stake

Under the final deal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (United) will contest equally 101 seats each in the 243-strong Bihar Assembly. The calculation is being viewed as an even-handed compromise between JD(U) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP, with neither side seeming to be in control.

BJP state in-charge Vinod Tawde informed that the alliance will go to polls under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, solidifying the CM’s position as the face of the NDA for Bihar. “Our alliance remains solid. We are confident that the people of Bihar will bless this partnership once again,” Tawde stated after the meeting.

Chirag Paswan’s Party Lands 29 Seats

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has been given 29 seats, the majority of which are in the Jamui–Munger belt and western Bihar. Sources mentioned Paswan had originally demanded 35 seats, but settled for the compromise deal after negotiations with senior BJP leaders.

Chirag, speaking to reporters, said his party’s aim was not numbers but “the collective strength of NDA.” “We’re satisfied with the decision. Our priority is to ensure Bihar’s progress under the alliance,” he added.

Smaller Allies Get the Remaining Seats

Other NDA allies such as HAM (Hindustani Awam Morcha) and VIP (Vikassheel Insaan Party) have been given the remaining 12 seats. Both parties are poised to play important roles in the coming election, particularly in areas where caste politics still plays a decisive role.

Opposition Reacts

The opposition Mahagathbandhan, which is spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, ridiculed the seat-sharing of NDA as a “marriage of convenience.” “The BJP and JD(U) are trying to be equal partners, but it is a public secret who is calling the shots,” said RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav.

With the seat-sharing agreement now sealed, both the alliances will announce their first lists of candidates this week, initiating the beginning of a hotly fought election battle that could define the future of Bihar’s politics.
