In a dramatic twist, the six-year-old daughter of Saurabh Rajput, a merchant navy officer who was allegedly killed by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her boyfriend Sahil Shukla, allegedly informed neighbour said , “Papa drum mein hain” (“Papa is in the drum”). The ominous remark has sparked suspicions that the child might have known about the gruesome crime committed within her house.
Gruesome Murder and Discovery
The murder occurred on March 4, 2025, when Saurabh was reportedly murdered by Muskan and Sahil. As per police reports, they stabbed him, dismembered his body, and kept the pieces in a plastic drum containing cement. The crime went undetected for two weeks before Muskan’s parents finally reported it to the police on March 18, which resulted in the arrest of the accused.
Grandmother’s Allegations
Saurabh’s mother, Renu Devi, has claimed that her grandchild kept attempting to convey what happened but was ignored. She believes that the child could have seen how that father was murdered or at least had seen suspicious activities that had occurred during the disposal process of her father’s body. Additionally, Renu Devi has accused Muskan’s parents of knowing about the crime earlier but keeping quiet to protect their daughter. She alleges that they only came forward when they feared legal consequences.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Action
The police have arrested Muskan and Sahil, who reportedly have admitted to committing the murder. Investigators will try to assess the entire range of children’s child’s knowledge of it and also look into other family members involved in it or neglecting reporting such a serious crime. Child welfare interventions would be taken for this little girl by the authorities as well for proper psychological care. The incident has seen Meerut erupt in mass outrage, with people calling for severe punishment of the accused.
Child rights groups have also intervened, calling for professional counselling
