Lok Sabha elections 2024: The platform is set for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in 49 constituencies in six states and two Union territories. Through the seats going to polls, 13 are in Maharashtra, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, five in Bihar, three in Jharkhand, seven in West Bengal, five in Odisha, one in Jammu and Kashmir and the lone seat in Ladakh. This phase covers the lowest number of seats (49) in the seven-phase elections.
It is a very important phase for the BJP as over 40 seats were with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Other leading candidates include Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti (Fatehpur, UP) and Shantanu Thakur (Bangaon, WB); LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan (Hajipur, Bihar), Shiv SenaтАЩs Shrikant Shinde (Kalyan, Maharashtra), Union ministers Piyush Goyal (Mumbai North, Maharashtra), and BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy and RJD president Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya (both Saran, Bihar).
Over 8.95 crore voters, including 4.26 crore females and 5,409 third-gender electors, are eligible for polling in this round and 9.47 lakh polling officials have been deployed across 94,732 polling centers. Until Now the last 4 phases have registered a total elector turnout of 66.95 per cent.

According to a press release of ECI, 153 observers, including 55 general observers, 30 police observers, and 68 expenditure observers, have already been arranged to their respective constituencies.
