India’s Airstrikes Cause Mass Flight Disruptions, 25 Airports Closed Temporarily

25 Airports Closed Temporarily

Following India’s precision airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), air operations in the region have suffered heavily. Over 200 domestic and international flights were cancelled or diverted on Tuesday as security was tightened and airspace was shut. The strikes resulted in an immediate imposition of no-fly zones over regions close to the Line of Control and western borders.

25 Airports Under Temporary Suspension

Officially, authorities announced that flight services in at least 25 airports, including those of Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Leh, Pathankot, and Chandigarh, were temporarily halted. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) added that the decision was a “precautionary measure” aimed at safeguarding the safety of passengers and crew against growing military tensions.

These suspensions have hit commercial airlines as well as cargo carriers, with Indian carriers’ major ones diverting or delaying flights to the northern belt. International operations, especially those that transit through northern air corridors, have also been hit, with airlines putting out advisories to passengers to verify flight status before heading out to airports.

Passengers Stranded, Chaos at Airports

Airports witnessed huge throngs of stranded passengers rushing for information and alternative travel arrangements. Some flyers posted on social media to vent anger over delays and confusion. Airport authorities in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore tried to control the crowds and provided accommodations or refunds where feasible.

High Alert Across Border States

After the attacks, Indian military forces were put on high alert along the border states, with further deployments in sensitive areas. Air defence systems were also put on alert to respond to any possible retaliatory action from across the border.

Government Calls for Calm, Airlines Watch Situation

The Ministry of Civil Aviation guaranteed that the authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and will reopen operations as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, the Indian government has urged citizens to stay calm and not panic, claiming that the airstrikes were “necessary and precisely targeted.”

As the situation continues to unfold, aviation and security officials remain in close coordination, and more updates are anticipated in the hours ahead.
