After a flurry of speculation on social media that a Rafale combat aircraft was lost during the clandestine Operation Sindoor, Indian defence officials have made it official and denied the reports. Some viral messages posted suggested that a Rafale plane crashed or was downed in the operation, raising alarm and confusion among defence analysts and enthusiasts.
Rumours Trigger Panic Online
The rumor picked up speed after several unverified images and messages started circulating, stating that one of India’s sophisticated multirole Rafale aircraft had failed to return from a recent cross-border operation. But senior defence sources, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that all the aircraft that took part in Operation Sindoor safely returned to base.
Indian Air Force hasn’t said anything officially, but military sources assured that no assets, not even Rafales, were lost in the operation. “There is no truth to reports of a Rafale being shot down. All aircraft are accounted for,” assured a senior officer.
What Was Operation Sindoor?
Despite classified details, Operation Sindoor has been thought to be a high-risk operation undertaken in retaliation against recent provocations after the Pahalgam terror attack. Intelligence inputs and satellite imagery report a successful surgical strike, but the Indian armed forces have remained tight-lipped about details.
Media Asked to Cross-Check Information
In the midst of escalating tensions, the Defence Ministry called for the public and the media not to propagate unsubstantiated reports. “Spreading such misinformation is only benefiting the enemy and creating unnecessary panic,” the defence analyst’s statement read.
To put things in perspective, India has lost no Rafale fighter aircraft in Operation Sindoor, according to defence sources. The operation was carried out accurately, and all the personnel and machinery engaged successfully returned. Owing to the sensitive situation in the area, the government and the military will probably preserve operational secrecy while continuing to observe cross-border activities.
