NEW DELHI: With air quality in Delhi-NCR falling in the “critical” range, authorities have reintroduced Phase IV restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to tackle rising pollution levels as the solution to the. This decision, issued by the Commission on Air Quality Management (CAQM), aims to address hazardous particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) in the air.
Current oxygen levels
By Thursday, many parts of Delhi and neighboring cities breached the air quality index of 450, indicating “severe” levels of pollution. The increase was attributed to weather, very hot temperatures in neighboring countries and vehicle emissions.GRAP 4 Limitations

1. Restrictions on Construction and Demolition Activities: All non-essential construction and construction activities are suspended.
2. Closure of brick kilns and stone packing plants: Industries which work with pollution-enhancing fuel have been shut down.
3. Restriction on trucks: Essential vehicles are prohibited from entering Delhi.
4. School closures: Officials have ordered the school to limit children’s outdoor activities.
5. Work from home guided: Private offices and sectors have been guided to switch to work from home if possible. The restrictions have paused construction and industrial activities and daily commuting, with many residents voicing concerns about limited public transport and jobs lost to construction and logistics freezes.

They have started criticizing the Delhi Government widely and openly for not taking any kind of actions government about the problem. Meanwhile, environmentalist have called for long-term solutions, including stricter standards for vehicle emissions and investment in energy as it’s in the green. Officials have requested the citizens to follow the guidelines properly and also mentioned that the air quality will be continued to be monitored and restrictions will be gradually relaxed if the conditions improve.
