1. The notification for the second phase of the Lok Sabha election will be issued today. Elections will be held in 88 Lok Sabha seats in 12 States and Union Territories along with the remaining part of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency in this phase.
2. President Droupadi Murmu accepted credentials from the Envoys of five nations at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 6. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena assured the citizens of the national capital that the Delhi government will not be run from jail. His remarks came on the backdrop of statements by AAP leaders that Arvind Kejriwal will continue as Chief Minister even if he is behind bars.
7. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) announced the names of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared the names of fifteen candidates out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the State.
8. The lone Lok Sabha member of the Aam Aadmi Party, Sushil Kumar Rinku, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday along with Punjab MLA Sheetal Angural, dealing a blow to the party that is already facing a crisis following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
9. Gujarat’s Minister of State for Education, Praful Pansheriya, launched the online learning platform Shiksha Reform in Surat.
Shiksha Reform is a collaborative effort with Microsoft and a leading Finnish university. It aims to deliver high-quality courses by experienced and highly qualified teachers to revolutionize education, particularly in technology.
10. The deadline for online submission of the application form for the CUET-UG – 2024 has been extended to 31st of this month. UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar said, the decision has been taken on the request received from candidates and other stakeholders. The CUET (UG) – 2024 is being offered in 380 cities including 26 cities outside India.
11. Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru has been discharged from a Delhi hospital following a critical brain surgery, signaling a positive turn in his health journey. The spiritual guru underwent emergency medical intervention on 17 March 2024, after experiencing severe headaches for several weeks.

1. The Delhi High Court refused to grant immediate interim relief to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The High Court issued notice to the ED on a plea moved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and six days of remand in the money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy scam case.
He is under the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with case. A bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma issued a notice to the ED to respond Mr. Kejriwal’s petition by the 2nd of April. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for the 3rd of April.
2. Election Commission has given show cause notice to BJP MP Dilip Ghosh and directed him to submit an answer within 48 hours. The Commission has served him the notice for his alleged remarks on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
3. National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained two suspects in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru, The Rameshwaram Cafe bomb blast took place on March 1 on the International Technology Park Limited (ITPL) road in the Brookfield area.
4. Two suspects were detained in connection with a blast in the vicinity of a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said on Wednesday.
The blast triggered by a handmade crude substance took place in a lane adjacent to a religious place in the vicinity of the district hospital in Poonch town late Tuesday night, causing panic among locals.
5. Six Naxalites, including two women cadres, were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Wednesday. The gunfight took place in the forest area located along the Talperu river near Chipurbhatti village under Basaguda police station area.
6. Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a money laundering case against Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena and her IT company over alleged illegal payments.
7. A sessions court in Palanpur town of Gujarat’s Banaskantha district on Wednesday convicted jailed former Indian Police Service officer Sanjiv Bhatt in a drug seizure case dating back to 1996.

1. A new set of revised annual maintenance charges on Classic, Silver, Global, Contactless, and other categories of SBI debit cards will come into effect from April 1, according to State Bank of India’s website.
2. The European Union (EU) announced the launch of investigations into Apple, Alphabet, and Meta, marking the first probe under the new Digital Markets Act (DMA) tech legislation. The investigations aim to determine whether these tech giants have violated the DMA, which seeks to regulate the behavior of large technology companies and promote fair competition in the digital market.
3. Innoviti Payments and Concerto Software have received payment aggregator (PA) licences from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), marking significant milestones in the digital payments landscape of India. Innoviti operates the PA ‘Innoviti Link’, serving 2,500 online merchants, while Concerto Software’s gateway ‘Vegaah’ joins the league of authorized PA solutions.
4. RBI Imposed Monetary Penalty: Recently Reserve Bank of India has taken strict action against five cooperative banks for violating rules. Action has been taken against all the banks under the provisions of Section 47A (1) C read with Section 46 (4) (i) and 56 of the Banking Regulation Act 1949.
(a) RBI has imposed a fine of Rs 25 thousand on Dindigul Urban Co-operative Bank Limited located in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
(b) Rs 59.90 lakh has been imposed on The Lakshmi Co-operative Bank Limited, Nashik.
(c) Rs 28.30 lakh on Solapur Janata Sahakari Bank Limited, Solapur.
(d) Rs 1 lakh has been imposed on Mathura District Cooperative Bank Limited, Uttar Pradesh.
(e) RBI imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 50000 on Chikkamagaluru District Co-operative Central Bank Limited, Karnataka

1. Army Commanders’ Conference 2024 started yesterday in hybrid mode in New Delhi. During the conference, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh addressed the gathering. On the first day of the conference, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande interacted with Army Commanders participating in virtual mode from their Command Headquarters.
On the last day of the conference on 2nd of April, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and the Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari will address the gathering. The event will be attended by the Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and other senior officials from the Ministry of Defence.
2. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) connected the strategic Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road in Ladakh on March 25, 2024. This 298-km road will connect Manali to Leh through Darcha and Nimmu on Kargil – Leh Highway. The road is now the third axis apart from Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh which connects Ladakh to the hinterland.
3. The Indian Coast Guard will inaugurate its Hovercraft Maintenance Unit (HMU) and lay the foundation stone for a new jetty at Okha on March 28, followed by the opening of the Operational Team Mess (OTM) and Married Accommodations in Veraval on March 29 in Gujarat.The Defence Secretary will officiate as the Chief Guest at both events.
4. UK Royal Navy vessels arrive in Chennai, set to undergo essential maintenance in Kattupalli. The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Argus and RFA Lyme Bay which were engaged in maritime exercises with the Indian Navy in the Arabian Sea recently, would undergo essential maintenance at the Larsen & Toubro shipyard in Kattupalli near Chennai. This is the first time a Royal Navy vessel will undergo maintenance at an Indian shipyard — a direct result of the logistics-sharing agreement signed between the UK and India in 2022.
5. NO DISCRIMINATION SHOWN TO WOMEN OFFICERS IN PROMOTIONS : Centre, Army tell Supreme Court. The affidavit will come up for consideration before a bench headed by CJI Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud on April 1.
The affidavit was filed in response to a petition by some women officers seeking contempt proceedings against the centre and army for alleged “wilful disobedience” of the 3rd Nov 2023 order of the top court directing “a fresh exercise of reconvening Spl No 3 SB (except for those officers who have already been empaneled)” for promotion to the select grade rank of Colonel.
This is the third time the army has faced allegations of discrimination and gender bias before the top court.

Since the 2021 verdict, 244 women officers succeeded in getting permanent commission in the respective arms/services of the army and were up for empanelment for promotion to colonel.
The Special No. 3 Selection Board, which was set up to promote women officers from the rank of lieutenant colonel to colonel, considered their case in January 2023 and empanelled 108 women officers. Following the Supreme Court’s directions on 3 November 2023, 12 more women officers made it to the rank of colonel out of a vacancy pool of 42.
6. Sadanand Vasant Date, Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad chief, has been appointed as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). His tenure lasts until December 31, 2026. Concurrently, Rajeev Kumar Sharma is appointed as the Director General of the Bureau of Police Research & Development.
