1. Today(27th March 2024) is the last day for filing nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. While, in Bihar, the last date for filling nominations is tomorrow (Thursday) . Withdrawal of candidature is 2nd of the next month. Voting will be held on 19th of April.
2. The elections will be held in 102 Lok Sabha seats in 17 States and four Union Territories in the first phase.

BJP denied a ticket to its sitting MP Varun Gandhi this time from Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit, after which, he announced that he would contest polls no matter what.
8. PM Modi on Tuesday (March 26) had a conversation with Sandeshkhali survivor Rekha Patra, who is now the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Basirhat.
Rekha is one of the victims of Sandeshkhali assault, allegedly perpetrated by jailed former Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan.
9. The Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) has appointed Govind Dholakia, a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, as its new chairman. This appointment comes a day after the previous chairman, Vallabhbhai Patel (Lakhani), resigned from his position.
10. Mariam Mammen Mathew, CEO of Manorama Online, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) for a two-year term starting April 1, 2024. She succeeds Tanmay Maheshwari, Managing Director of Amar Ujala.

1. The Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench has declared the UP Board of Madarsa Education Act of 2004 as unconstitutional. The court ruled that the act violated the principle of secularism, as well as several articles of the Constitution, including Articles 14, 21, and 21-A. Additionally, the court found that the act also contravened Section 22 of the University Grants Commission Act of 1956.
2. Two persons have been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for engaging in anti-national activities in Bandipora district.The duo has been identified as Danish Parvaiz, son of Parvaiz Ahmad Malla, and Abrar Ahmad Wani.

A court on Tuesday granted bail to Oreva Group CMD Jaysukh Patel, the main accused in the 2022 Morbi suspension bridge collapse case, and barred his entry into the district till the completion of the trial as it imposed seven conditions for his release. Morbi suspension bridge on the Machchhu river in Morbi city of Gujarat collapsed on 30 October 2022, killing 135 people.
4. The Delhi high court will on Wednesday hear a petition by Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the ED in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

A court in New Delhi on Tuesday sent Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha to judicial custody till April 9, noting that the investigation regarding her role in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam was pending and that the purported offence being economic in nature was more complex than an ordinary crime.
6. An explosion occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district late on Tuesday night but there was no report of any injury, officials said.
7. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Tuesday evening ended his 21-day-long hunger strike in support of the demand for statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

1. INDIAN NAVY DEPLOYS 8 SUBMARINES TO SEND CLEAR MESSAGE TO CHINA: According to information published by the Western Naval Command on March 25, 2024, eight submarines were observed operating together off the Western Seaboard in a recent exercise in the Indian Ocean.
2. Amid tensions in the South China Sea, the Indian Coast Guard ship, Samudra Paheredar docked at the Manila Bay in the Philippines as part of a broader initiative aimed at demonstrating ICG Marine Pollution Response capabilities, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
3. Indian officials have issued a no-fly zone (NOTAM) in the Bay of Bengal region for April 3rd-4th, likely for testing of missiles or similar munitions.Another alert has also been issued for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, close to the Malacca Strait, for a firing exercise for March 29th-30th.

Indian Navy is all set to host the six-day ‘Tiger Triumph’ — a bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) amphibious exercise — on the Kakinada coast from March 26 (Tuesday).
