1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad has issued a rainfall alert for specific districts in Telangana on Wednesday. Alert is for Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, and Mancherial, cautioning residents about potential thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
2. PM Modi will address the Startup Mahakumbh at Bharat Mandapam today. it is a forum which brings together stakeholders from the world of Startups, innovators and upcoming entrepreneurs.
3. The notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections will be issued soon. Elections will be held in 102 Lok Sabha seats in 17 States and Four Union Territories in this phase. Thirty-nine seats of Tamil Nadu, 12 seats of Rajasthan, eight seats of Uttar Pradesh, six seats of Madhya Pradesh, five seats each in Uttarakhand, Assam and Maharashtra, four seats of Bihar, three seats of West Bengal, two seats each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and one seat each in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep and Puducherry will go to polls in the first phase. Nominations can be filed till the 27th of March. Voting will be held on 19th of next Month.
4. Union Public Service Commission has decided to postpone the Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2024. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024 which also serves as screening test for Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024 will now be held on 16th June this year. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on 26th May this year. The Commission has decided to postpone the schedule due to the ensuing General Election.
5.. In view of the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly polls in four States, Election Commission of India (ECI) Allows Postal Ballot For Essential Service Employees In Upcoming Elections.
6. The Election Commission has launched a special campaign in Himachal Pradesh to boost voter turnout in 414 polling stations with less than 60% voting during the last Lok Sabha polls.
7. PM Modi participated in a roadshow in Palakkad in Kerala as part of the NDA election campaign. This was Mr. Modi’s first campaign event in Kerala after the General Elections announcement.
8. The meeting of the Central Election Committee of the Congress party related to Lok Sabha elections was held in New Delhi.

India is set to host the prestigious World Telecom Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), along with the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024. These events aim to foster global collaboration, drive telecom reforms, and showcase India’s technological prowess.
10. Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on March 19 took oath as member of the Rajya Sabha after a Delhi Court permitted him to visit Parliament. He has been in Tihar Jail since October 2023 in connection with a case pertaining to now scrapped Delhi excise policy. He took oath in the presence of Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar.
11. Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday gave an undertaking to the Supreme Court that the Nationalist Congress Party led by him will not use the name or picture of party founder Sharad Pawar on banners, posters or any election material.
Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed the Sharad Pawar faction to use ‘Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’ as its name for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly polls in the country.
12. Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras resigned on Tuesday as he accused the BJP of doing “injustice” with his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party by excluding it from the seat-sharing deal with allies for the Lok Sabha polls in Bihar.
13. The auspicious Hindu festival of Amalaki Ekadashi falls between Maha Shivratri and Holi. ( 20 Mar). According to the Hindu calendar, the Ekadashi of Phalgun Shukla Paksha is known as Amalaki Ekadashi. Also known as Rangbhari Ekadashi, it falls in February or March and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati are also worshipped on this day. It is the only Ekadashi dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva.

1. The Supreme Court refused to stay implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act, CAA. The apex court also gave the government three weeks to respond to 237 petitions challenging the law that was notified last week. The petitioners included the Indian Union Muslim League, opposition leaders Jairam Ramesh of the Congress and Mahua Moitra of the Trinamool Congress. The next hearing in this case has been set for April 9th.
2. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Shafeekh, a key accused in the 2022 murder case of RSS leader Srinivasan in Kerala,Shafeekh was a key member of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), NIA said.
3. Four Naxalites, carrying a collective bounty of ₹ 36 lakh, were killed in an encounter with police in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district on Tuesday.
4. National Investigation Agency has arrested 11 more accused in the conspiracy relating to the communal violence took place during Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal in March 2023.
5. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, on Tuesday, withdrew her plea challenging the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons in the Delhi excise scam case.
Daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Kavitha was arrested by the ED on March 15 from her Hyderabad home and sent to the federal agency’s custody till 23 March.
6. A delegation of the African nation Gambia on Tuesday visited the Gujarat University campus in Ahmedabad and held a meeting with its vice-chancellor over safety measures in the backdrop of an attack on foreign students in the varsity’s hostel premises for offering ‘namaaz’ three days ago.
7. Anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal on Tuesday directed the CBI to investigate the cash-for-query allegations against Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra and submit findings before it within six months.

1. The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has directed asset management companies (AMCs) to conduct monthly liquidity stress tests for their small and mid-cap mutual fund schemes. The results of these tests are to be disclosed on the AMCs’ official portals and AMFI’s website by the 15th of each subsequent month, based on the preceding month’s data.
2. Gross Direct Tax collection has registered a growth of 18.74 percent during the current Financial Year. According to the Finance Ministry, gross direct tax collection stands at over 22 lakh 27 thousand crore rupees which is more than 18 lakh 75 thousand crore rupees reported in the corresponding period of financial year 2022-23.
3. Poonawalla Fincorp, a notable NBFC, has chosen Arvind Kapil, a seasoned retail banking expert from HDFC Bank, as its new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer. Kapil will commence his five-year term on 24 June 2024.

1. Army has commenced a joint training for over 1,100 probationary police officers to enhance operational coordination between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The training for the officers, including probationary deputy superintendents of police (DSP) and sub-inspectors (SI), is being held at White Knight Corps Battle School in the Bhalra area of Doda district.
2. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed a laser beam-riding guidance system (LBRG) that is resistant to countermeasures and less susceptible to smoke, fog, rain, and dust than semi-active laser guidance. The LBRG system has a range of 500–5,000 meters.
3. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is working towards delivering the first TEJAS MK-1A fighter jet to the Indian Air Force by the end of this month.
(a) The Indian Air Force has already signed a contract worth over ₹48,000 crore with the HAL for supplying 83 TEJAS planes while there is clearance for buying 97 more of them at ₹65,000 crore.
(b) The first Tejas squadron became operational in 2016, as No. 45 Squadron IAF Flying Daggers was the first to have their MiG-21s replaced with the Tejas.
(c) Currently there are three production models of the Tejas – the mark 1, mark 1A and a trainer version. The IAF has ordered 32 mark 1s, 73 mark 1As and 18 mark 1 trainer aircraft.
4. A 4.1 km long and 33-m wide concrete airstrip has been constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as per specifications provided by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The Indian Air Force has carried out an activation of an Emergency Landing Facility airstrip on a national highway in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district.
Su-30 and Hawk fighters successfully carried out overshoots during the activation, while An-32 and Dornier transport aircraft landed and subsequently took off from the strip.
5. Indian Navy’s Searcher, a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), crashed on Monday during a routine training sortie near Kochi, a statement of the defence agency said. No casualties or damage to properties have been reported.The crash occurred at 5 pm on Monday when the RPA searcher during a training sortie at INS Garuda, Kochi.
6. Recently the Indian Army has raised its first squadron, the 451 Aviation Squadron, to operate the newly acquired AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. The squadron was formally established on March 15 at Jodhpur.
