Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a forceful statement on Wednesday at a public gathering in Delhi, assuring that the government would not let up until the culprits behind the fatal Pahalgam terror attack are apprehended. His statements followed only days after the heinous attack that jolted the Kashmir Valley and martyred a number of security officials.
‘Terror Will Not Be Tolerated’
Addressing the people who had come to express their grief, Shah claimed, “We will track down all the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack. No one on board will be spared.” He emphasized that the government is not faltering in its resolve for national security and that such attacks only make the determination of Indian forces stronger.
Condolences and Support for Security Forces
Paying homage to the martyr jawans, Shah hailed their valour and sacrifice, saying, “Their martyrdom will not go in vain.” He reassured the victims’ families and the country that the Centre stands strongly with the armed forces, who continue to toil day and night to safeguard the country’s sovereignty.
Blaming Pakistan and International Concerns
Shah indirectly accused Pakistan of promoting terrorism on the other side of the border. Without specifically mentioning the country, he asserted that countries backing terrorism will be punished. “India will bring to light those assisting terrorism on international forums,” he added, highlighting the government’s diplomatic strategy in addition to military preparedness.
Increased Security and Continued Operations
After the attack, the Union Home Ministry has stepped up security vigilance in border areas and initiated combing operations in vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Intelligence agencies have also been asked to intensify surveillance of suspected movements.
Political Support and Public Opinion
Shah’s remark was received by thunderous claps from the audience, and several BJP political leaders reiterated similar sentiments. The remark seems to be part of a grander narrative leading to state elections where national security remains a prime agenda for the governing party.
Amit Shah’s belligerent posture reinforces the Centre’s response to countering terrorism in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. With the military and diplomatic channels being pursued in tandem, India is giving a clear signal: terrorism will be defeated, and those patronising it will be made accountable.
