Worsening Situation Of Hospitals And Crematories In China
Although the Chinese Government has not officially confirmed it yet, news of an outbreak of
HMPV, i.e., human metapneumovirus, is surfacing on the internet, and many reports have
confirmed it.
Human metapneumovirus along with other viruses like Influenza A, coronavirus, and
Mycoplasma pneumoniae are affecting the people of China. These viruses’ main target is
respiratory organs and the winter season is just adding fuel to the fire. These diseases are
spreading very quickly from person to person and turning into an outbreak. The hospitals and
crematories are full of diseased and dead people.
Cases In India
As per the Health Minister of India, there has not yet been a single case of human
metapneumovirus in India which is a cause of rising fear in India, as this virus outbreaks in
neighboring border country China.
The government reassures the public of India that there is no need to panic, metapneumovirus
is just like the common cold of winter season and recommends keeping a safe distance in case
symptoms are observed and taking the common cold medicines.
Preparedness Of India
Even though, no case of metapneumovirus in India yet, the Government asks the citizens to be
on precautionary mode both physically and mentally. As pet Prof. (Dr.) Atul Goel, director
general of health services, said our country’s hospitals and medical staff are prepared and we
have sufficient resources to deal with the situation in the future.
Future Implications
The situation stands bleak as the Chinese Authority has neither confirmed nor denied the
outbreak but the news of the HMPV outbreak has filled over the internet creating panic and
spreading fear as the world is not yet over the repercussions of the COVID outbreak that
happened five years back.
Additionally, it has been observed that the Chinese Authorities till the last minute did not alert
WHO or any other country of the covid outbreak which created heavy losses of lives across the
globe. So, there are chances that they may try to hide the HMPV outbreak this time as well.
Hence, the Government of India in collaboration with WHO and other countries must chart out a
plan to conceal this virus before the world goes through another pandemic.
