BHOPAL, MAY 17 , 2024 : Char Dham Yatra 2024: On Thursday (May 16) The Uttarakhand government pronounced not to allow any VIP darshan at the ‘Char dhams’ (four pilgrimages)- Kedarnath,, Yamunotri and Badrinath, Gangotri- through the rest of the month due to the enormous crowd of devotees at the temples of Himalayan.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi wrote in a letter to her counterparts in all states and Union Territories.
There will be no categorization for Very important person (VIP) darshan at the Char dhams till May 31 (Friday) and offline registration in Haridwar and Rishikesh will continue closed till May 19 (Sunday),
Ban on Videography and making reels on Social media
A ban has also been imposed on videography and making social media content , reels within a 50 meter radius of the temples, she added. Videography is being done and reels are being made on the temples’ premises by some devotees due to which people gather at one place, become the reason inconvenience, Raturi said.
The Char Dham Yatra begins on May 10 (Friday). In the first week of the pilgrimage, till Wednesday, at least 3,34,732 people from India and abroad have visited the sanctum to offer prayers. Registration for the yatra opened on April 25 and, till Thursday evening, more than 27 lakh devotees had registered for the Darshan.
Mandatory of Registration for devotees:
As mentioned by an earlier letter written to the chief secretaries of other states on April 30, VIP darshan was not to be allowed at the temples till May 25. Earlier registration for the yatra is mandatory and devotees can have a darshan at the dhams only on the dates organised for them at the time of registration, Raturi said.
Senior devotees with a medical history must get themselves checked before starting the yatra and follow all the guidelines given by the Health Department of Uttarakhand, said by the chief secretary.
Significance of Char Dham Yatra
The Char Dham Yatra holds deep spiritual significance in Hinduism. This journey typically transpir from April-May to October-November. It is believed that one should complete the Char Dham Yatra in a clockwise direction. so, the pilgrimage starts from Yamunotri, proceeds towards Gangotri, onto Kedarnath, and is finally completed at Badrinath.
The journey can be accomplished by road or by air (helicopter services are available). The Char Dham Yatra, or pilgrimage, is a journey of four holy sites- Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. In Hindi, ‘char’ refer to four and ‘dham’ refer to religious destinations.
