New Delhi: The BJP Government has earmarked land for Former President Pranav Mukherjee’s memorial.
They have decided to honor the works and contributions of the ex-president Pranav Mukherjee
by dedicating a memorial in his name and for the same, they have earmarked the land.

Sharmistha Mukherjee the daughter of Pranav Mukherjee has expressed her gratitude to BJP
and honorable PM Modi for this dedication of the memorial and she has also said to the media
that she never asked for any dedication for her father as her father has taught her that if works
are worthy, then dedication will come unasked.
But as the land for the memorial is earmarked by the BJP government, she is elated and posted
on Twitter, “Called on Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji to express thanks & & gratitude from the
core of my heart 4 his govts’ decision 2 create a memorial 4 baba It’s more cherished
considering that we didn’t ask for it. Immensely touched by this unexpected but truly gracious
gesture by PM,”

Pranav Mukherjee served various ministries and held diverse cabinet positions, such as
Foreign, Defence, Commerce, and Finance Minister, at different times before becoming the
President. His leadership skills and visions for the development of the nation are truly
breathtaking.

Sharmistha Mukherjee is an Indian kathak dancer and choreographer who is also an
ex-politician of the Indian National Congress. As she expresses her gratitude to Prime Minister
Modiji and the BJP government, the Indian National Congress brings a unique perspective to

As Indian National Congress leaders have been very vocal about the BJP government in power
not paying proper tribute to recently passed former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,
Sharmistha Mukherjee on the internet has pointed out that when Congress was in power they
didn’t even conduct four proper condolence meetings when Pranav Mukherjee passed away.
Hence, Congress’s take on this memorial project is that it is BJP grabbing an opportunity to take
Sharmistha Mukherjee on the BJP’s side and along with that also building a good reputation for
the party.
But goodwill or no goodwill, governments in power do pay proper tribute and homage to late
political leaders following proper protocol and even cherish their contributions. Under any
scenario, our politics should never stoop to the level where we connect deceased political
leaders with politics.
