Amidst the Delhi elections, a fresh controversy has occurred. The AAM AADMI PARTY has accused of Bharatiya Janata party of bribing candidates with an offer of 15 crore. AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh, made this allegation on Thursday at a press conference.
About the Allegation
Sanjay Singh said the BJP had approached seven AAP candidates who had contested in the recent Delhi Assembly elections with significant monetary gains to switch over to the BJP. He added, “The BJP has made phone calls to seven of our candidates, offering each of them тВ╣15 crore to join their party.”
In reply to these claims, Singh stated that AAP has instructed its contestants to be cautious. He has asked them to take pictures of such offers and, if they are approached personally, to click pictures using spy cameras.
Polling for Delhi’s 70 constituencies took place on February 5, with the results scheduled to be announced on February 8. The election witnessed a contest primarily between the incumbent AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and the BJP. The AAP is seeking a third consecutive term in power, while the BJP aims to end its 27-year absence from governing the capital.
This is not the first time that such claims have been made. Also, this year, in the elections of 2024, AAP accused the BJP for offering 27 crore to their candidates for defection, thereby destabilizing the Delhi government. At that time, Chief Minister Kejriwal alleged that the BJP was trying to topple his government by making AAP legislators vulnerable to such an offer.
BJP’s Rebuttal
So far, no official response has been issued by the BJP regarding the most recent accusations, but previously they have claimed all such accusations were baseless and politically motivated, and have also challenged AAP to provide proof, along with mentioning the names of the individuals accused of these offered deals.

These allegations have thus further heightened drama and tension pertaining to the elections in the Delhi Assembly. Their authenticity would affect the political outlook of the capital if proven valid.
