Two roads diverged in a wood, and IтАФ
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
~Robert Frost
When Frost stood on the diversion of two yellow roads, he watched both the roads long and closely, identifying and differentiating every little detail, and finally went on one road, giving a logical reason to himself and the world that it wanted wear because somewhere in his heart he knew he had made his choice. That precise time and place would never return.
And he had to live with it.
Similarly, whatever we choose in life, something will still be left behind. Something precious, something valuable. Taking one road will lead to the closing of another.
We all stand on diversions at different points in our lives and it is frightening. We are alone, all others are either shadows or voices. Choice has to be ours. The decision has to be ours.
We have to understand that whatever happens to us in the future we are responsible for it. So, the choice we make today of taking up the challenge or letting it pass by is going to define our story in history.
The important thing to understand is that we listen to our hearts in the end and do what our soul calls for. Which among the two makes our heart skip a beat? Which among the two is the calling of the soul?
Truth is it doesn’t really matter whether what we choose is right or wrong, but it matters if the work means the Universe to us. We should choose the ones that will rattle our hearts, that sets our souls on fire.
The mere idea of working fills our hearts with an abundance of joy and beauty.
These are not fancy ideas to deal with diversion. Rather diversion can be fun just like life.
Indeed, both can be overwhelming at times but isnтАЩt it what makes it worth living: to learn to surf in uncertainty with a big smile, to be kind when circumstances test us against our inner weaknesses.
Often, it is in our difficult times, when we are afraid, confused, and agitated, if we donтАЩt run away from the situation, we find what we are meant to discover: ourselves, our true nature, our true talents will surface when we are still as water.
In the stillness of breath, lies answer to all the questions we have been asking ourselves.
тАЬLife is about choices. Some we regret, some were proud of. Some will haunt us forever. ‘Black Rain’ was very much about choices. The message – we are what we chose to be.тАЭ
