Smart Hacks to master while preparing for Competitive Exams like UPSC, CAT, etc.

Students when they come out of graduation are full of zeal, confidence, and perspectives and are ready to dive into any water body that offers a thrill especially the toughest exams are the biggest temptation.

But on the road that they take to prove themselves often leads to transforming their whole personality. Let’s take a look at the basic habits as a student we need to start working on to attain what we want to attain:

1. Drink Water:

“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.”
~ Loren Eiseley

Self-care is the most important thing, to begin with. If you are someone who takes care of everyone around them, it is time to take care of yourself by drinking 12 cups of water daily, almost 3 liters.

Our body is built of 70% water. So, dehydration will lead to confusion, dizziness, and inability to decide.

2. Sleep:

“Go to bed early and wake up early. The morning hours are good.”
~ Jeff Bezos

Going to bed early and sleeping at 10 is the best habit you can reward yourself with. It is scientifically proven that our body needs to rest between 10 PM to 2 PM. And when we start providing it, it wakes up the next morning fully replenished.

But one important fact we are unaware of is we should turn away from all tech before 1 hour of sleeping and create a ritual of doing some prayer, chanting, talking, reading, knitting, anything that relaxes us and detaches us from anxieties of the world.

3. Yoga:

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
~The Bhagavad Gita

Yoga of all the physical activities is the most underrated one. Somewhere around 15,000 years ago, yoga originally originated in Uttrakhand, India.

Practicing yoga mysteriously has many benefits for our bodies. When we sleep, our body contracts, and when we stretch our muscles and hold our body in certain positions, it regains its strength, flexibility, and posture.

4. Meditation:

“Meditation is essentially training our attention so that we can be more aware— not only of our
owner’s workings but also of what’s happening around us in the here & now.”
~Sharon Salzberg

Meditation as we all think is sitting still with closed eyes and directing our attention to the rise and fall of breath or paying attention to the coming and going of sounds or becoming aware of our emotions towards a certain event that happened in life.

That is all of it. But the best of all its benefits is that it brings almost physical changes in the portions of our brain within 4-8 weeks of starting practicing. The region responsible for happiness and learning enlarges in size.

That is why we often find monks much happier in comparison to even the richest person in the world. Meditation is also responsible for sharpening the brain and enhancing learning capabilities.

5. Positive Peer:

“The great thing about new friends is that they bring new energy to your soul.”

Once, we start handling ourselves in the best possible manner, then, it is our turn to choose our friends wisely. It is very important to surround ourselves with positive, progressive people who genuinely support us in following our endeavors.

And when we gain mastery over these five fields, we become unstoppable. This is what the toughest exam in the country teaches us to handle ourselves well and gain knowledge with fun on the journey.

Good Luck!
