What Is Thyroid & Its Work?
to overcome this disease we should be aware of thyroid gland. we have glands throughout our body which is known as glandular system. thyroid gland is a part of glandular system & butterfly shaped organ situated just above collar bone in-front of the neck, wrapped around the trachea. It releases hormones that control many vital functions of our body. It regulates body metabolism. It regulates body temperature. When this gland does not work properly, it can impact on mostly body functions. its workings are monitored & controlled by pituitary gland (located in the center of the skull), the master gland of our body. when it senses that a lack and high level of thyroid hormone in bloodstream, it adjust with its hormone named TSH. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone released by pituitary gland stimulates thyroid gland to secrates thyroxine hormone (T3 (TRIIODOTHYRONINE), T4(THYROXINE)) needs to be done to get back to normal. if thyroxine hormone released by thyroid gland is too much than the condition is hyperthyroidism and if this hormone is too little, the condition is called hypothyroidism.

There are different type of thyroids are as follows:
- Hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid)- in this condition thyroid gland makes too much thyroxine hormone and body uses energy too quickly.
- Hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid)- in this condition thyroid gland makes very little amount of thyroxine hormone and body’s functions become very slow.
- Thyroiditis- inflammation in thyroid gland
- Goiter- abnormal enlargement of the gland
