Artscape, a pioneering non-governmental organization dedicated to expressive arts therapy for holistic well-being, is celebrating its eighth anniversary on Friday, March 28, at Juhu Gymkhana at 7 PM. Since its inception in 2016, Artscape has made remarkable strides in promoting wellness through the transformative power of the arts.

Driven by a vision to encourage a multidimensional approach to wellness, Artscape has reached an impressive milestone, conducting 5,548 sessions and positively impacting 63,845 lives. The organization’s efforts span across diverse programs tailored to different social segments:

Care for Cancer: A mental health intervention program supporting patients, survivors, and caregivers from underprivileged backgrounds.

Beyond Academics: A value education initiative for children and adolescents facing challenging environments.

Corporate Wellness: Self-empowerment modules designed to foster well-being among employees.

At the heart of Artscape’s mission is its founder, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, a multifaceted artist with over four decades of experience in television, film, theatre, and classical dance. A trained Odissi dancer and a dedicated advocate of Rabindranath Tagore’s artistic philosophies, Kamalika’s journey in the arts led her to explore its deeper therapeutic potential. Her passion for using the arts as a tool for healing and growth culminated in the foundation of Artscape in 2016.

A Diploma holder in Dance Movement Therapy from TISS, Mumbai, Kamalika brings a unique blend of artistic insight and therapeutic expertise to Artscape’s programs. She is backed by a dedicated team of managers, mentors, facilitators, educators, counselors, volunteers, and institutional and NGO partners, all working together to make a tangible impact in the lives of those they serve.

The eighth-anniversary celebration at Juhu Gymkhana promises to be a momentous occasion, reflecting on the organization’s journey and its unwavering commitment to fostering emotional resilience and mental well-being through the arts.
