1. President of Seychelles Patrick Herminie, on a five-day visit to India, arrived in Mumbai yesterday along with First Lady Veronique Herminie. The Seychelles President met Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and later attended the India-Seychelles Business Roundtable organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

2. United States Ambassador Sergio Gor has lauded President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the India-US joint statement on trade and economic cooperation.

3. United States has announced the removal of the additional 25 per cent tariffs imposed on Indian goods, effective February 7, 2026. The decision follows India’s commitment to halt direct or indirect imports of Russian oil and marks a significant development in bilateral trade relations between United States and India.

4. The 11th edition of the Nepal Buildcon International Expo is a four-day exhibition of building, construction, infrastructure, and design trade in Bhrikutimandap of Kathmandu that kick-started on Thursday. The Expo has brought together industry professionals, companies, and innovators from Nepal and many foreign countries like India, China, Germany, the UK and others countries.

1. France and Canada opened consulates in Greenland’s capital Nuuk, yesterday, in a show of support for their NATO ally Denmark amid renewed demands from US President Donald Trump to acquire the Arctic territory.

2. Iran has warned that it would attack US military bases in the West Asia if the United States attacks Iran. Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi said that such attacks should not be seen as targeting the countries where the US bases are located.

3. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order renewing the national emergency on Iran and creating a new tariff system targeting countries that buy goods or services from Tehran.

4. In central Sudan, 24 people including eight children were killed after a drone attack by a paramilitary group, Rapid Support Forces (RSF), hit a vehicle carrying displaced families.

5. In Bangladesh, violence continued during electioneering for February 12 general elections. At least 26 people injured in clashes in Kushtia, Bhola, Teknaf and Rajshahi between Thursday and Friday.

6. South Africa has rolled out its first locally produced vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in nearly two decades, marking a major milestone in the country’s animal health management. The announcement was made by the Department of Agriculture, signalling a strategic shift towards domestic vaccine self-sufficiency and proactive disease control.

7. The Islamic State, IS, group has claimed responsibility of the suicide blast at a mosque in the Pakistani capital- Islamabad.

In Pakistan, the death toll has risen to 36 after a suicide attack at a Shia religious center in the capital city, Islamabad yesterday.
