1. India and Russia are advancing their strategic partnership as NSA Ajit Doval met top Russian officials in Moscow and discussed security, multilateral cooperation, and preparations for President Putin’s upcoming India visit.

2. India and Russia signed a formal protocol to deepen bilateral cooperation in various industrial sectors. The agreement was reached during the 11th session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation, held at Vanijya Bhawan in the national capital.

3. The Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has sought greater partnership with India to build prosperity and growth in Asia. He was addressing the Philippines-India Business forum in Bengaluru yesterday.

4. PM Modi on Thursday received a telephone call from Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, technology, energy, defence, agriculture, health, and people-to-people ties.

5. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to visit Kathmandu, Nepal on August 17, 2025, for a two-day official trip to lay the groundwork for Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s planned visit to India.

1. US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to meet in the coming days.

2. In yet another shift in global trade policy, the United States has imposed a sweeping wave of new import tariffs, ranging from 10 to 50 per cent on nearly 70 countries, sending ripples through international markets. These taxes mark the highest U.S. tariff levels since 1934, reaching a level not seen in nearly 90 years.

3. Cambodia and Thailand signed a ceasefire agreement yesterday during an extraordinary General Border Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur. Both sides discussed measures to restore peace and pledged to create a regional monitoring mechanism.

4. Pakistan has launched its first fully electric, trackless tram system in Lahore.
