1. The President Smt. Droupadi Murmu who is on a two-day state visit to New Zealand will visit Capital Wellington today.

2. The High Commission of India in Dhaka, Bangladesh has issued an advisory for Indian Nationals living in the country. The Commission in its advisory said, in view of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, the Indian community members and the Indian students residing in Bangladesh are advised to avoid local travel and minimize their movement outside their living premises.

3. Non-essential staff and families of Indian High Commission in Dhaka have returned to India from Bangladesh on voluntary basis through commercial flight.

4. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the political situation in Bangladesh.

5. The Australian government has unveiled the Maitri Research and Cultural Partnerships Grants. These grants, aimed at fostering Australia-India collaboration, encompass sustainable manufacturing, energy transition research, and artistic projects.

6. Nearly 600 people from Bangladesh were stopped from entering India at a border point in the Indian state of West Bengal by the Border Security Force (BSF), which has been on high alert since Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted and fled the country on Monday.

1. In Nepal, Floods and landslides caused by heavy monsoon rains continued to wreak chaos across Nepal, resulting in 12 deaths over the past 24 hours in Baglung and Gumli.

2. In Bangladesh, after major reshuffle in top level of Army, new authorities have reconstituted the police force of the country. The new regime replaced the additional Inspector General of Police Md. Harun Ar Rashid as Director General of Rapid Action Battalion with AKM Shahidur Rahman.

3. Five people died, including four Chinese nationals, after a helicopter crashed in Shivapuri National Park in Nuwakot, Nepal, on Wednesday.

4. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus-led interim government in Bangladesh will take the oath on Thursday, Army Chief Gen. Waker-Uz-Zaman said.

5. Israel’s army chief on Wednesday (Aug 7) vowed to hunt down and eliminate Yahya Sinwar after he was named the new leader of Hamas, following the death of his predecessor in Tehran last week.

6. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday (August 7) accused Ukraine of launching a “large-scale provocation” in Russia’s Kursk region, where intense battles raged for the second day.

7. Bulgaria on Wednesday (Aug 7) passed a controversial amendment to its education law that widens its scope to ban LGBTQ “propaganda” in school. The amendment, as per reports, has been widely criticised by human rights groups. The new law was proposed by the pro-Russian Vazrazhdane party.
