1. The president of India, Droupadi Murmu, today departed for Lisbon, the first leg of her two-nation state visit to Portugal and Slovakia.

2. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met the President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, on the sidelines of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Summit in Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

3. Renowned Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has become the first Indian to receive the prestigious Fred Darrington Sand Master Award for his outstanding contributions to sand art. The award was presented during the Sandworld 2025 International Sand Art Festival in Dorset, England.

4. India has sent 31 tonnes of humanitarian aid for an Indian army field hospital unit deployed in Myanmar.

5. In a major development, Saudi Arabia has imposed a temporary ban on visas for people from 14 countries. The temporary visa ban will apply to Umrah visas in addition to business and family visas.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman directed officials to tighten visa rules to maintain order in Hajj. The temporary visa ban has been imposed for 14 countries, including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia and Yemen.

1. Heavy rains have struck parts of earthquake-hit Myanmar, worsening relief efforts and increasing the risk of disease outbreaks. The death toll from the March 28 magnitude 7.7 quake has risen to at least 3,471, with over 4,600 injured and 214 missing.

2. Brazil has proposed the creation of a new international body to accelerate global climate action. The plan is shared ahead of this year’s UN climate conference (Conference of the Parties – COP30) in Belem, a city in northern Brazil, in November 2025.

3. The US has revoked visas for all South Sudanese passport holders and will deny them entry, citing the country’s refusal to accept deported citizens.

4. Thousands of Israelis continue to protest daily, urging their government to negotiate with Hamas for the release of all hostages still held in Gaza. The demonstrations come amid concerns that ongoing Israeli military operations, which resumed on March 18, may endanger those captives.

5. Deadly Storms Lash Central-Eastern US: 16 Killed, Flash Floods Trigger Evacuations.

6. In US, thousands of people across all 50 states marched in protest against President Donald Trump’s administration, criticizing moves to shrink the government and cut social services.

7. Israel has detained two British members of parliament and refused entry to the officials who were visiting as part of a parliamentary delegation.

8. The United States customs agents have begun collecting President Donald Trump’s unilateral 10 per cent tariff on all imports from many countries.

The initial ten per cent baseline tariff paid by U.S. importers took effect at U.S. seaports, airports and customs warehouses from Saturday midnight.
