1. National Aeronautics and Space Administration will soon provide training to Indian astronauts, with the goal of mounting a joint effort to the International Space Station, a top American diplomat said.

2. The Philippines recently made major changes to its laws that allow foreign medical students, including those from India, to work as doctors in the Philippines after they graduate with a Doctor of Medicine degree.

3. India is embarking on Mission ISHAN, aimed at consolidating its fragmented airspace management into a single, unified system headquartered in Nagpur. This move promises to revolutionize air traffic management, benefitting both airlines and passengers.

Under Mission ISHAN, all FIRs will be integrated into a single airspace managed from Nagpur. This centralization is expected to optimize operations, enhance safety, and increase capacity, crucial for accommodating the soaring demand in the aviation sector.

4. Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Foreign Policy and said that he has always advocated for the ‘Bharat First’ approach.Further, he added that the last 10 years have seen a paradigm shift in the way India is perceived as a country.

5. Pakistan on Friday rejected a fresh order by the Indian Sup­reme Court, which upheld its earlier ruling that endorsed the Modi government’s unilateral decision to revoke the special status of held Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution.

6. The United States’ Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru on Saturday, as both countries continue to enhance cooperation in the field of space.

1. Death toll reaches over 300 in massive landslide in Papua New Guinea.

2. With help from China, Myanmar’s junta is starting up again the $3.6 billion Myitsone dam project that was put on hold from 2011.

3. Recent studies and observations have shown that solar activity, especially solar storms, can have huge effects on Earth. Earth was hit by strong solar storms earlier this month, which included coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and strong solar flares.

4. SpaceX recently announced that the next test flight for Starship, the world’s most powerful rocket, will take place on 5 June 2024.

Beyond the test flights, NASA’s planned lunar operations depend on Starship’s success. In 2026, astronauts will use a modified version of Starship to land on the moon.

5. China started large-scale military training near Taiwan soon after William Lai Ching-te became 8th president of Taiwan on 20 May 2024, under the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

6. The UAE welcomed the decision of the International Court of Justice to impose additional provisional measures on Israel, demanding an immediate halt to military operations in Rafah governorate, and the exacerbation of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

7. Google has come under fire after its new Artificial Intelligence (AI) search feature provided users with erratic and misleading answers which included claims like former United States President Barack Obama is Muslim and that astronauts played with cats on the Moon.

8. The 10th World Water Forum, themed “Water for Shared Prosperity,” began in Bali with global leaders discussing water conservation, sanitation, food and energy security, and disaster mitigation.

9. The World Sindhi Congress (WSC) has expressed sorrow and outrage over the murder of a Sindhi journalist, Nasrullah Gadani, bringing the total number of media workers reported killed nationwide in 2024 to five, according to Voice of America (VOA).Gadani, who was attacked and shot three days ago in Ghotki, Sindh, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

10. Israel recovered the bodies of three hostages from a tunnel shaft in the northern Gaza area of Jabalya, the Israel Defense Forces said on Friday morning.The three were identified as Hanan Yablonka, Michel Nissenbaum and Orion Hernandez Radoux.All were killed on 7 October 2023.
