1. India and Kyrgyzstan’s Bilateral Investment Treaty, BIT has come into force as the two nations signed the Protocol, and exchanged Instrument of Ratification of the Treaty.
2. The all party delegation led by Congress MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor met prominent members of the Indian diaspora in the US. The delegation spoke about India’s resolute and united stand against terrorism and the new normal created by India through Operation Sindoor.
3. In Brussels, the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad met President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Federal Parliament of Belgium, Peter De Roover. Talking to media, Mr Prasad expressed gratitude to Mr de Roover for expressing solidarity in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack.
4. India has been elected to lead the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) for the 2025–2028 term, with V. Srinivas, a top Indian bureaucrat, assuming the presidency.
5. The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Group of 7 (G7) meetings. Canada is hosting the G7 Leaders’ Summit from June 15 to 17 in Kananaskis, Alberta. This will be Canada’s seventh time as host. Notably, India has yet to receive an invitation, which could mark its first absence since 2019.

1. US President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation banning the citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States, citing national security and public safety threats. The proclamation signed by the President Trump fully restricts and limits the entry of nationals from 12 countries: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
2. US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the situation in the Middle East in a telephonic conversation yesterday.
3. Millions of Muslims from around the world assembled on the Plain of Arafat near Mecca for the performance of Wuquf-e-Arafat, the central and most critical ritual of the annual Hajj pilgrimage that marks the spiritual pinnacle of the sacred journey.
4. Russian drone attacks on the northern Ukrainian city of Pryluky overnight have killed at least five people, including a one-year-old child. 23 people have been injured in this drone attack, which also caused severe damage to residential buildings in the area.
5. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has vowed to unconditionally support Russia in the war against Ukraine. Kim made this remarks during his meeting with Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in Pyongyang.
6. US President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation restricting the student visas of foreign students at Harvard University. It is a temporary suspension for six months.
7. A humanitarian aid vessel named Madleen, organised by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), is en route to Gaza with a group of activists, including prominent climate campaigner Greta Thunberg. The mission aims to draw international attention to the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave and challenge the longstanding Israeli blockade.
