1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Colombo on a three-day state visit at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Disanayaka. This is PM Modi’s fourth visit to the island nation Sri Lanka, six years after his previous one in 2019.

2. BIMSTEC Summit: PM Modi announces several India-led initiatives towards capacity building. Participating in 6th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit in Bankok, Mr Modi highlighted that BIMSTEC Centres of Excellence will be set up in India on Disaster Management, Sustainable Maritime Transport, Traditional Medicine, and Research and Training in Agriculture.

3. India has been ranked 10th in the world with significant private investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in 2023. According to the 2025 Technology and Innovation Report issued by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), India ranked 36th in 2024 on the Readiness for Frontier Technologies Index, improving its position from 48th in 2022. India ranks 36th out of 170 nations on a global index measuring a country’s readiness for frontier technologies, improving its ranking from last year.

4. PM Modi meets King & Queen of Thailand, speaks about relics of Lord Buddha. During the meeting, they exchanged views on shared cultural heritage between India and Thailand.

5. PM Modi expressed India’s concerns relating to the safety and security of minorities in Bangladesh, including Hindus. In his meeting with the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit, he reiterated India’s support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh.

6. President Droupadi Murmu will embark on State Visits to Portugal and Slovakia from April 7-10, 2025.

7. The United States has revised its import duties on India, reducing the tariff rate from 27% to 26%, as per a White House document.

1. Bangladesh on Friday assumed the chairmanship of the regional grouping – Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (Bimstec) – for the next two years.

2. China announced additional tariffs of 34 per cent on U.S. goods yesterday, the most serious escalation in a trade war with US President Donald Trump that has fed fears of a recession.

3. South Korean acting Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho urged the military to establish a robust readiness posture against possible North Korean provocations following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that ousted impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol.

4. French President Emmanuel Macron has urged companies to halt investments in the US until US President Donald Trump clarifies his harsh and unjustified new tariffs on Europe and other countries.

5. Quad nations pledge $20 million in aid for Myanmar earthquake relief: Australia, India, Japan and the US have extended sympathies and condolences to the peoples of Myanmar and Thailand following the recent earthquake.

6. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen firmly rejected the US attempt to annex Greenland, accusing the US of subjecting Denmark and Greenland to pressure and threats.
