1. The President of 🇵🇭Philippines Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr will arrive in New Delhi today on a five day State Visit to India. He will be accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and a high level delegation including several Cabinet Ministers and senior officials.

2. 🇲🇻Maldives is set to mobilise the Rs 56 crore ($6.48 million) grant aid provided by India to expand the public ferry network.

3. 9 Indian Civil Servants – Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), and Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS) Head to Japan for Higher Studies. The selected officers will pursue postgraduate studies at prestigious Japanese institutions including the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Hitotsubashi University, and Kobe University. It is a significant step towards developing future administrative leaders with specialization on Indo-Japan relations.

4. In Japan, the Indian Pavilion- titled Bharat Mandap at the World Expo 2025 being held in Osaka attracted over 20,000 visitors, as people came to witness the richness of India’s cultural heritage, space achievements, and handicrafts. The Indian Embassy in Japan, on a social media platform, mentioned how the visitors experienced a yoga session embracing India’s age-old journey towards holistic wellness.

5. The Consulate General of India in Houston has announced the launch of a new Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) in Dallas, Texas, US. This centre will make it easier for the large Indian community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to access consular services without travelling to Houston.

1. Massive pro-Palestinian protests erupted worldwide yesterday against the ongoing war and famine in Gaza.

2. The Krasheninnikov Volcano on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula erupted yesterday for the first time in 600 years. Krasheninnikov’s last known eruption occurred around 1463.

3. A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Russia’s Kuril Islands yesterday. The quake triggered a tsunami warning for parts of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula.

4. Guangdong Province in southern China and South Korea are both facing severe weather conditions as heavy rain and strong winds threaten to cause widespread damage.

5. Leading Baloch human rights defender Mir Yar Baloch has said that Balochistan is actively and enthusiastically preparing to celebrate the National Day of Independence on August 11 despite restrictions imposed by the occupying Pakistani forces.

Afghan citizens living in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have been directed to leave the country without delay as their Proof of Registration cards expired on June 30.

6. Wildfire smoke from Canada has prompted air quality alerts across several states in the US. Air quality alerts were issued in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, Nebraska, Indiana and Illinois. Conditions were especially dire in Minneapolis and Minnesota.

The Air Quality Index is expected to reach the red or unhealthy category in Minnesota in the coming days.
