1. At least three miners were killed following the collapse of a gold mine in northern Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province.
2. In Bangladesh, three members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) were shot dead in Khagrachhari district of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. In a statement, UPDF said a group of miscreants appeared there and opened fire on its three activists around 10 am on Wednesday.
3. At least 64 people have been killed in flash floods in eastern Spain’s Valencia region.
4. Hamas has expressed its openness to any agreements or ideas for establishing a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
5. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has said more than 14 million people have fled their homes since the beginning of the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Sudan has been ravaged by a deadly conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since mid-April 2023.
6. In Sri Lanka, Postal voting for the general elections will take place at all police stations, District Secretariats and Election Commission Offices. Postal ballots will be also marked on the 1st and 4th of November at these offices and Tri forces’ camps.
