1. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its Space Docking Experiment, SpaDeX, today. Minister of State for Space Dr. Jitendra Singh said that ISRO’s year-end mission will be a historic one as it will seek the rare feat of docking or merging two satellites in space.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will conduct this mission using the PSLV-C60 rocket, scheduled to lift off from Sriharikota at 9:58 PM IST.

2. The India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement ECTA has completed two years of remarkable success, driving mutual growth and showcasing the complementarity of both economies. It has significantly advanced trade ties, creating new opportunities for MSMEs, businesses and employment in both nations while reinforcing the foundation of their economic partnership.

3. A fishing boat narrowly escaped sinking after a collision with a Chinese cargo ship off the coast of Mumbai, specifically near Madh Koliwada in the Malad area. The incident occurred in the early hours of 29 December 2024, when the fishing boat was struck by the cargo vessel.

1. In South Korea plane crash, death toll has gone upto 179 out of 181 people onboard on Jeju Air flight. The dead included all 175 passengers and 4 crew members. Two crew members were rescued.

2. Former US President Jimmy Carter passed away last night at his home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100. He was the oldest living President of all time and the third U.S. President to visit India.

3. In United States, President-elect Donald Trump has defended the H-1B visa program that allows highly skilled foreign workers to immigrate to the US.

4. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has warned of a decisive response to US missile threats. He said, the US and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will face a decisive response including military-technical countermeasures from Russia if they make new missile threats.

5. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced emergency disaster payments for people affected by a major bushfire in Grampians National Park, approximately 230 km west of Melbourne.

6. In Georgia, thousands of people are protesting in the capital, Tbilisi, ahead of swearing in of the new President Mikheil Kavelashvili yesterday. On 14th of this month, Georgian Parliament elected Mikheil Kavelashvili as President of the country. However, the current head of state, Salome Zourabichvili, refused to step down, describing his election as illegitimate.

7. European Union rules requiring all new smartphones, tablets and cameras to use the same charger came into force yesterday. The EU said it will cut costs and waste.

8. In Nepal, the five-day long 18th Elephant and Tourism Festival is ongoing in Sauraha, Chitwan with domestic and international tourists flocking Chitwan National Park. The Elephant and Tourism Festival is organised to celebrate the English New Year and Christmas and promote regional tourism.

9. The opening of the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) in Pakistan has been postponed for the third time, primarily due to escalating security threats in the region. Originally set to commence operations on 1 January 2025, the airport’s inauguration has now been delayed.
