1. Canadian police have launched an investigation into reports of shots fired at the residence of an Indian-origin businessman in Surrey in the British Columbia province, causing damage to the property.

Referring to the attack at the residence of Lakshmi Narayan Mandir President’s son in Canada’s Surrey, Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the investigation is being conducted and it is not appropriate to comment on the matter till the probe is completed.

2. Pak Army encroaches Sharda temple in PoK, committee seeks help of Modi govt. The Save Sharda Committee (SSC) urged the Indian government to address the “encroachment by the Pakistan Army” on the Sharda temple premises in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), seeking assistance for restoration.

SSC founder Ravinder Pandita alleged that the Pakistan army had encroached upon the dilapidated old Sharda temple premises and opened a coffee home there despite a court order in the committee’s favour.

3. India has once again asked Pakistan to extradite Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed, who is wanted in the country for various terror incidents, including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

4. PM Modi accepted the invitation extended by Swami Ishwarcharandas and Swami Brahmaviharidas, along with the board of directors for the inauguration of the BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha) Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi on February 14 next year.

5. ISRO is set to launch Xposat mission on new year’s day to study Black Holes and neutron stars. This will mark the 60th mission of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. This will also be the first dedicated polarimetry mission in India and second globally, after Nasa’s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer Mission launched in July 2021.

1. A fresh military confrontation between the Houthis and the USA🇺🇸 military occurred in the Red Sea. Days after Houthis fired multiple attack drones towards American warship USS Laboon, the USS Mason shot down a Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile, and a combat drone.

4. Jacques Delors, the former European Commission chief and a key figure in the formation of the European Union (EU), has died at the age of 98. A prominent French socialist, Delors played a crucial role in shaping the EU during his three-term presidency from January 1985 to the end of 1994.

5. China on Friday named naval commander General Dong Jun as the new defence minister, two months after the summary dismissal of General Li Shangfu without any explanation.

6. The Yeti Airlines aircraft crash that occurred in Pokhara, Nepal on January 15, 2023 was due to human error Confirms Investigation.

On 15 January 2023, the aircraft being operated on the route, an ATR 72 flown by Yeti Airlines, stalled and crashed while landing at Pokhara, killing all 72 occupants on board.
