1. India has strongly protested against references made to Home Minister Amit Shah by Canada’s Deputy Minister David Morrison before the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security. The External Affairs Ministry summoned the representative of the Canadian High Commission and conveyed India’s protests. On cancellation of Diwali celebrations in Canada, the spokespersons termed it as unfortunate that the prevailing atmosphere in Canada has reached high levels of intolerance and extremism.
2. PM Modi and Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis have reiterated their commitment to strengthen strategic partnership between the two countries.
In a telephonic conversation, both leaders exchanged views on various regional and global issues of interest, including the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and developments in West Asia.
3. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Maris Sangiampongsa who is on a four-day visit to India, met External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in New Delhi.
4. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will be on a six day visit to Australia and Singapore from today. During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar will travel to Brisbane and inaugurate India’s 4th consulate in Australia. He will also co-chair the 15th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong in Canberra.
5. The 352nd Governing Body meeting of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) is underway in Geneva. It began on the 28th of last month and will continue till the 7th of this month. During the meeting Labour and Employment Secretary Sumita Dawra highlighted India’s commitment to improving living standards reflected in significant initiatives covering all dimensions of poverty.

1. United States, campaigning for the presidential election has reached a feverish pitch as only three days remain until Americans decide their next president. Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris held numerous rallies in the key swing states of North Carolina and Virginia.
2. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Sikh pilgrims from the US, UK and Canada will receive free online visas within 30 minutes upon arrival in the country to pay respect to their religious sites. Naqvi’s remarks came as he met with a 44-member foreign delegation of Sikh pilgrims in Lahore on Thursday.
3. Kemi Badenoch has been elected as the new leader of Britain’s Conservative Party, succeeding Rishi Sunak. She triumphed over Robert Jenrick in a vote involving nearly 200,000 party members. Badenoch is the first Black woman to lead a major political party in the UK. Her victory marks a significant moment in British politics.
