1. India is on the verge of finalising a landmark defence deal with US-based Shield AI that will enable the Indian Air Force (IAF) to acquire the advanced V-BAT combat drones while also establishing local manufacturing under a rare full technology transfer agreement.
2. NIBE Limited, a pioneering Indian private defence manufacturing company, has signed a Technology Collaboration Agreement with Israel’s Elbit Systems to manufacture the advanced Universal Rocket Launcher (SURYA) in India.This system is a sophisticated defence technology capable of precision strikes on targets up to 300 km away.
3. Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, firmly rejected Western criticism of India’s oil imports from Russia amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
4. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Japan’s Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Takehiro Funakoshi in New Delhi. The meeting was held under the bilateral Foreign Secretary-Vice Minister Dialogue. Both sides exchanged views on the entire spectrum of India-Japan bilateral relationship, including defense and security, economic security, trade and investment, technology and people-to-people exchanges.
5. The death sentence for Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse who was convicted of murder in Yemen, has been “overturned” and “completely” cancelled, the office of Indian Grand Mufti, Kanthapuram AP Abubakker Musliyar, stated on Monday.
6. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday informed that no telephonic conversation was held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump from April 22 to June 17.
Jaishankar’s remarks came as the opposition alleged that India ended the military conflict with Pakistan under Trump’s pressure.
7. The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite is all set to launch on July 30, symbolizing a landmark collaboration between India and the United States in space research and earth observation.
🌍 What is NISAR?
NISAR is the first dual-frequency radar imaging satellite developed jointly by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It will use L-band and S-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to provide unprecedented high-resolution images of the Earth’s surface.

Leaders from Thailand and Cambodia are scheduled to hold peace talks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, aiming to de-escalate the intensifying border conflict that has resulted in over 30 deaths and displaced more than 200,000 civilians from both sides.
Tensions between Cambodia and Thailand are not new and have mainly centered around:
🛕 1. Preah Vihear Temple Dispute:
A UNESCO World Heritage Site located near the border. Though awarded to Cambodia by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 1962, Thailand disputes land surrounding the temple.
This has caused border skirmishes several times in the past (notably in 2008, 2011).
2. Pakistan’s unpaid dues to Chinese power producers under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) reached an all-time high of PKR 423 billion, a PKR 22 billion rise from the previous year, reflecting persistent fiscal mismanagement and deepening structural failures in Pakistan’s energy and financial administration.
3. The world bid farewell to Tom Lehrer, the celebrated musical satirist and mathematics master, who passed away at the age of 97 at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Known for his razor-sharp wit and incisive commentary on society, Lehrer left behind a legacy that continues to resonate across music, education, and cultural discourse.
4. In Nepal, Madhesh Pradesh experiences drought, leading to drinking water problems and water paucity for paddy plantation. The Fields are parched, and the ponds have dried. In response to prolonged drought and growing water scarcity in Madhesh, the provincial government has begun installing deep-boring systems across all wards.
5. The United States and China are set to begin a new round of trade talks in Stockholm, Sweden. The world’s two largest economies could agree to extend their current trade truce by another 90 days. The negotiations will be led by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng.
6. In Nigeria, kidnappers killed at least 38 people they abducted from a village in northern Zamfara state despite ransoms being paid for their release. Local government chairman Manniru Haidara Kaura said that most of those killed were young people. 56 people were taken from a village in Kauran Namoda area in March. The gunmen had demanded a ransom of one million naira for each captive.
7. At least 40 people were killed in an attack by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in northeastern Congo.
8. Atleast three people died and several others were injured when a regional passenger train derailed in a wooded area in southwestern Germany.
