1. *The External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile Alberto van Klaveren co-chaired the second India-Chile Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi* . Dr. Jaishankar thanked Chile for extending support for India’s permanent membership in the expanded Security Council. He also said, India values the participation of Chile in the Global South Summit.

2. *The UN General Assembly unanimously has voted to postpone the Security Council reform discussions to the next session.* India’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Yojana Patel criticized the decision and warned that the Inter-Governmental Negotiations process risks losing its legitimacy if it continues without progress.

3. *Qatar authorities have handed over two saroops of Guru Granth Sahib to the Indian Embassy in Doha.* The saroops were taken from an Indian national in a case related to running a religious establishment without approval. The Ministry has also appealed to all Indian citizens residing in Qatar or other countries to scrupulously follow local laws and regulations in all matters.

1. *In a historic milestone for Iran, Fatemeh Mohajerani has been named the country’s first female government spokesperson* . Proposed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, this appointment represents the first time a woman has taken on this role.

2. Turkiye police detained 20 suspects across the country over their alleged links to a network accused of orchestrating a coup attempt in July 2016.

3. *The Bangladesh, the interim government led by Prof Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday lifted the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.*

Earlier on August 1, the previous Awami League-led government banned Jamaat, Shibir, and all of its associated organisations as political entities under the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009.

4. Former 🇺🇸US President Donald Trump on Tuesday faced a revised federal indictment accusing him of illegally trying to overturn the 2020 election results.

5. *Australia has announced a restriction on the enrollment of international students.* The Education Ministry of the country said, it will accept only 2,70,000 overseas students in 2025. This limit includes higher education courses and as vocational education and training courses.
