1. India has taken “strong objection” to remarks of the United States State Department Spokesperson about certain legal proceedings in India.

The MEA’s remarks come in the backdrop of a US State Department spokesperson telling that the US is closely following reports of the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. Earlier this month, the US had also expressed concern over the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

2. External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar called on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday and expressed admiration for his vision aimed at fostering stronger ties between India and Malaysia.

3. India is outpacing the world when it comes to adopting renewable energy, said US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, on Wednesday, while calling for deeper collaboration between New Delhi and Washington to win the fight against climate change.

4. US President Joe Biden lauded credits quick action by Indian crew members in US bridge collapse: The prompt action by personnel on board the cargo ship ‘Dali’, which struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore causing the bridge to plunge into the river below sending several people and vehicles into the water.

Shipping company Synergy Maritime Group which managed the Singapore-flagged freight ship in a statement on Tuesday said the entire 22 member crew of the vessel are Indians.

5. Professor Sajjad Raja, the Chairman of the National Equality Party for Jammu Kashmir Gilgit-Baltistan and Ladakh (NEP-JKGBL), made a striking comparison between the people living in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh region and those in the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). He applauds improved living conditions in Jammu-Kashmir.

6. The Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) has partnered with the French aerospace and defence firm, Starburst Accelerator (SARL), to set up an innovative hub for start-ups. The institute has received a fund of €100 million.The institute will enable the firm to set up accelerator programmes to boost aviation, space and defence ecosystem in India.

7. Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba will arrive in New Delhi on Thursday on his maiden visit to India amid efforts to seek a peaceful resolution to the over two-year-old Russia-Ukraine conflict.

1. US and UK uncover sanctions against hackers backed by the Chinese state over recent malicious attacks that took place. In order to counter cyber threats, the United States and the United Kingdom took coordinated action by imposing sanctions on individuals and groups linked to China.

2. The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has awarded the 2024 Abel Prize to Michel Talagrand of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Paris, France. Talagrand received the prestigious prize “for his groundbreaking contributions to probability theory and functional analysis, with outstanding applications in mathematical physics and statistics.”

3. The Maldives government announced that 1,500 tonnes of drinking water donated by China from the glaciers in Tibet has reached the archipelago nation amidst an acute water shortage.

4. China has demanded a “thorough investigation” after five of its Engineets were killed in an attack on a convoy in Bisham tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla.

Five Chinese nationals were killed in the attack. A Pakistani driver sustained injuries and was shifted to a local hospital, but he too succumbed to his wounds. The Chinese nationals were engineers who were going to Dasu camp, Kohistan from Islamabad.

5. BALTIMORE BRIDGE COLLAPSE : Two bodies recovered out of the six workers missing since a highway bridge collapsed into Baltimore Harbor after being struck by a faltering cargo freighter. Retrieval efforts suspended due to treacherous waters.

How did the ship ram into the bridge?
The massive cargo ship was crippled by power loss when it crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge over the mouth of the Patapsco River.

Dali, the Singapore-flagged container vessel, was heading out of the harbour bound for Sri Lanka at the time. The impact caused a trestled section of the 1.6-mile (2.57 km) span to almost immediately crumple into the icy water.

6. The death toll from the Moscow concert hall terrorist attack is feared to be higher than the official death toll of 140. In a statement on Wednesday (Mar 27), Russian state investigations reported that they have received 143 reports of persons missing after last week’s mass shooting in Moscow.
