1. Kenya’s President William Ruto has said, the finance bill that sparked nationwide deadly protests, would be withdrawn. President Ruto declined to sign the highly contentious bill and has sent it back to the Parliament for amendments. His decision comes after nationwide protests intensified against the highly unpopular finance bill killing at least 22 people while dozens more have been injured.

2. *NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore are at the International Space Station (ISS) as engineers continue to fix the Boeing Starliner spacecraft that will take them back to Earth*.

Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams’ scheduled return to Earth has been delayed once again after the spacecraft in which she travelled to space, the Boeing Starliner, faced a series of technical glitches. The astronaut, who left Earth on June 5, was set to return on June 14 after a week in space. However, her return was delayed. Now, no new date for her return has been disclosed by NASA.

It is reported that the space agency had extended Ms. Williams’ stay on the space station after five helium leaks were detected on the Starliner spacecraft and five of its 28 thrusters faced issues. At least 14 thrusters are needed for a safe return.

3. The US House of Representatives on wednesday passed a bipartisan resolution in support of democracy and human rights in Pakistan’s general elections and called for a thorough and independent investigation.

4. South Korea, the US and Japan began their first trilateral multi-domain exercise. The three-day exercise, named Freedom Edge, got underway in South Korea’s southern island of Jeju. The exercise comes amid efforts to deepen security cooperation against threats from North Korea by its deepening ties with Russia.

5. In Bolivia, armoured vehicles and troops of the Bolivian Armed Forces pulled back from the presidential palace in La Paz.

6. Sri Lanka has reached a final restructuring agreement for its external debt owed to its bilateral creditors.

7. The North Atlantic Council decided to appoint outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as the next Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

8. A Maldivian minister has been arrested for using witchcraft “to get closer to” President Mohamed Muizzu. Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, a state minister for environment, was arrested and remanded in custody for seven days.

9. Pakistan’s leaders have started Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, also known as “Resolve for Stability,” to fight the rising violence and terrorism that are mostly caused by the country’s battles with Afghanistan.

10. SpaceX has launched NASA’s final satellite for the NOAA program, enhancing continuous weather monitoring across the Western Hemisphere. This launch improves the US ability to monitor solar flares from eight-hour intervals to every 30 minutes.
