1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks to US President Donald Trump over phone, in first conversation since American President assumed office.

2. India and China decide to resume Kailash Mansarovar Yatra; Agree to resume direct air services between the two countries.

3. The Embassy of India in Laos has rescued 67 Indian youth from cyber-scam centres in Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, GTSEZ. Ambassador of India to Laos, Prashant Agrawal assured them of their safety and Embassy’s full support as a matter of highest priority for their safe return to India.

4. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to UAE.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will be on a two-day visit to Muscat in Oman for the 11th Joint Commission Meeting.

5. At least 34 Indian fishermen have been were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy in two separate incidents. Sri Lankan Navy also seized three trawling boats used for fishing. The fishermen have been arrested for alleged illegal fishing in two separate incidents on Saturday.

6. The UK’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, has revealed that he will be visiting India next month in an effort to propel the bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with urgency.

1. The United States has paused sanctions and tariffs on Colombia after its President, Gustavo Petro, agreed to accept deportation flights from the US, following prior tensions.

President Petro refused to accept deported migrants, calling their treatment inhumane, and offered a presidential plane for their dignified return.

2. In Sri Lanka, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department over corruption allegations tied to a property purchase.

3. Belarus’ incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko has won the presidential election. Preliminary data from the Central Election Commission shows that Lukashenko received 86.82 per cent of the vote.

4. Dhaka University suspends exams, classes after student clashes
Dhaka University, the centre of political activities in Bangladesh, suspended all classes and examinations on Monday due to clashes between students of the university with Dhaka College and six other colleges. Several students were injured during the clashes among the students and batons charged by the police to disperse them.

5. Bangladesh and Pakistan are planning to initiate direct air flights as a means to strengthen their bilateral ties, which have been improving recently. The announcement was made by Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mohammad Iqbal Hussain, during a press conference in Peshawar on 26 January 2025.

6. At least two people have been killed and seven others injured in a car bomb explosion targeting a passenger bus in Khuzdar, Pakistan. The incident occurred on 26 January 2025, near the M-8 Highway, approximately 25 kilometers from Khuzdar City.

7. At least 27 Nigerian soldiers were killed in a jihadist suicide attack attributed to militants affiliated with the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).This incident occurred on 26 January 2025, during a military operation targeting ISWAP strongholds in the north-eastern regions of Nigeria.
