1. At the seventh meeting of the 58th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, India strongly criticized Pakistan, calling it a failed state reliant on international aid. Kshitij Tyagi, India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, accused Pakistan’s leaders of spreading falsehoods from their military-terrorist complex.

2. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General (USG) to review India’s contributions to UN peacekeeping.This meeting highlighted India’s long-standing commitment to supporting global peace and security through its participation in UN missions.

3. India and Japan have launched the sixth edition of their joint military exercise, Dharma Guardian 2025, at the East Fuji Training Area in Japan, commencing on February 24 and running until March 9, 2025. This year’s exercise is notable for its expanded scale, featuring company-strength contingents from both nations for the first time.

1. Austriа’s conservative People’s Party, centre-left Social Democrats, and liberal Neos reached a deal to form a new coalition government, ending five months of political deadlock. The agreement follows September’s elections in which the far-right Freedom Party emerged as the largest political force but failed to form a government. Christian Stocker, leader of the People’s Party, is set to become the new chancellor.

2. US President Donald Trump has announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the White House tomorrow to sign a significant agreement granting the rights to the USA for Ukraine’s rare earth minerals. The visit will also include a deal regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.

3. Bangladeshi students, who were at the forefront of last year’s protests that ousted then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, are set to launch a political party today. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagarik Committee announced that they would launch their political party at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital Dhaka on February 28.

4. US President Donald Trump has announced a new immigration initiative called the “Gold Card.” This programme offers a direct pathway to US citizenship for foreign investors who contribute $5 million.

5. A strong earthquake of 6.1 magnitude was felt near Nepal’s Kathmandu early Friday morning.
