1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to embark on official visit to Japan and China from Thursday to strengthen strategic partnership.

(a) During his Japan visit on 29th and 30th of this month, Prime Minister Modi will hold 15th India-Japan Annual Summit with his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba.

(b) In China, the Prime Minister will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s 25th meeting of Council of Heads of State in Tianjin on 31st of August and 1st September of the next month.

2. The seventh round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Kuwait was held in New Delhi.

3. Twenty-one teachers from Higher Education Institutions and Polytechnics have been selected for the National Awards to Teachers 2025. Union Education Ministry said the selected teachers are from Polytechnics, State Universities and Central Higher Education Institutions. The selection is based on the performance of the teacher, such as Teaching Learning Effectiveness, Outreach activities, Research and Innovation, Sponsored Research and Faculty Development Programs.

4. Oman sets goal to attract 1 million Indian tourists yearly by enhancing connectivity, promoting luxury travel, and deepening India-Oman cultural ties.

5. Nepal officially joined the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) in August 2025. This India-led global initiative focuses on the conservation of seven big cat species. Nepal’s diverse wildlife includes the snow leopard, tiger and common leopard.

6. India’s tourism sector received a major boost in 2025 with the implementation of the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. The Ministry of Tourism sanctioned 40 projects worth Rs. 3295.76 crore to develop iconic tourist centres across 23 states. These projects are fully funded by the central government and aim to enhance the end-to-end tourist experience while promoting responsible tourism.

1. Protesters in Israel took to the streets today calling for an end to the conflict in Gaza and the return of hostages being held there.

2. Prime Minister of Fiji Sitiveni Rabuka has outlined his vision of an Ocean of Peace, emphasising a Pacific region free from conflict and coercion. He highlighted that this vision should be guided by dialogue, diplomacy and consensus and rooted in cooperation and respect for international law.
