1. The second Ministerial Roundtable was held in Singapore yesterday. Both sides deliberated upon six pillars identified under ISMR, which include digitalisation, skill development, sustainability, healthcare and medicine, and advanced manufacturing and connectivity. Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Dr. S Jaishankar, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Piyush Goyal attended the meeting.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the National Civil Rights Museum on 25 Aug and interacted with the Indian community in Memphis, Tennessee on the last day of his tour to the US.

1. 🇯🇵 Japan is on high alert as Typhoon Shanshan nears and could make landfall in western Japan most likely from Tuesday through Wednesday. Japan’s weather agency warned, urging residents to prepare for strong winds, high waves, and heavy rainfall.

2. 🇷🇺 Russia unleashed a massive drone and missile barrage throughout 🇺🇦Ukraine yesterday that appeared to target energy infrastructure. The massive missile and drone attack targeted multiple Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, causing power outages and explosions. Media reports said, at least three people were killed in explosion.

3. World Health Organization launched a six-month global strategic and response plan to stop the deadly outbreak of Mpox . This plan aims to curtail human-to-human transmission of Mpox through coordinated global, regional, and national efforts. Starting from September 2024 to February 2025, and envisions a 135 million U.S dollars funding, the plan includes strategic vaccination efforts for people at highest risk to interrupt transmission chains.

4. In 🇵🇰 Pakistan, at least 23 people were killed in Balochistan’s Musakhel district , about 317 km from Quetta, as gunmen shot at trucks and bus passengers after checking their identities. According to the reports, armed men blocked the inter-provincial highway in Musakhel, offloaded passengers from trucks and buses and fired at them after checking their identities. The deceased were identified as belonging to Pakistan’s Punjab province.

5. In 🇧🇩 Bangladesh, at least, 30 people were injured when clashes broke out between students and protesting Ansar personnel near the Central Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday night.

6. 🇦🇺 Australia’s right-to-disconnect laws have come into effect, granting workers the entitlement to refuses contact outside of their working hours.

Employees in Australia will have the right to refuse to monitor, read or respond to work communication outside of their paid hours. However, the right to disconnect does not apply to emergencies and cases where an employee’s refusal to be contacted is considered unreasonable, depending on their role, the reason for the contact.

7. In 🇿🇲Zambia, at least eight miners were killed after a gravel mine collapsed in the Chongwe district of Lusaka province.

8. Former 🇱🇧Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss has died at the age of 94 after a long battle with illness. Prime Minister Najib Mikati has declared three days of official mourning.

9. At least 30 dead, many missing after dam bursts in eastern 🇸🇩Sudan : Torrential rains caused floods that overwhelmed the Arbaat Dam on Sunday just 40 km (25 miles) north of Port Sudan.
