1. New Delhi asked Ottawa to take action against anti-India elements operating in Canada. Replying to a media query on reports that Canada has charged two people for threatening on social media to kill Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but such actions are missing against those threatening Indian leaders and diplomats.

1. The announcement for the Presidential Elections in Sri Lanka will be made today.

2. The Firefighters across North America are working intensively on containing wildfires across the region, as heatwaves reaching record-breaking temperatures continue. The wildfires are spreading in areas encompassing California, Washington, Oregon, and other states, as well as parts of Canada.

3. Nine people have died and four others are missing after a Spanish fishing boat sank in the South Atlantic Ocean. The 27-member crew abandoned the Argos Georgia and took to life rafts when it started taking on water, about 200 nautical miles off the coast of the Falkland Islands.

4. Wales is set to get its first female First Minister after Eluned Morgan was chosen to lead the governing Welsh Labour Party. Ms Morgan will take charge following a confirmation vote in Wales’ parliament, the Senedd. Ms Morgan succeeds First Minister Vaughan Gething.

5. The United Nations’ goal to eradicate world hunger by 2030 seems increasingly challenging to achieve due to the impacts of wars, climate change, and economic crises.

The annual State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report said that around 733 million people faced hunger in 2023. It said that the situation in Africa was particularly dire, with one in five people there experiencing hunger.

6. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. In his speech, he sought to strengthen U.S. support, particularly for weapons supplies, amid increasing international criticism after over nine months of conflict in the Palestinian enclave.

7. According to reports in Singapore, a total of 13 people died from dengue in the first half of 2024, more than double the total for last year.
