1. India has implemented a total ban on all drone imports as part of a strategic initiative to bolster domestic manufacturing and promote local start-ups in the drone sector. This announcement was made by Union Minister of Civil Aviation, K Ram Mohan Naidu, on 23 October 2024.

2. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar participated in the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, where he engaged with heads of delegations during the Outreach/BRICS Plus session. This event aimed to extend the BRICS platform to new partner countries, emphasizing multilateralism and global cooperation.

3. Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s is on three-day visit to India, began from 24 October 2024, his visit significantly enhance the strategic partnership between Germany and India.

4. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed his approval of the recent agreement between India and China aimed at de-escalating tensions along their disputed border.

1. Several members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s own Liberal Party are urging him to resign by October 28, 2024. This internal dissent comes amid growing concerns about his leadership and the party’s declining popularity, particularly following recent electoral setbacks.

2. A terrorist attack on the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to 22 others on 23 October 2024.

3. Hezbollah has confirmed the death of terrorist Hashem Safieddine, who was widely regarded as the potential successor to the group’s late leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Safieddine was killed during an Israeli airstrike in early October, which targeted a Hezbollah intelligence facility in southern Beirut.

4. In Iraq, nine Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in a military operation in Anbar province.

5. In Nepal, The Kaski District Court has allowed Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party and former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, to be detained for another seven days for investigation. He was arrested on charges of misappropriation of the cooperative’s savings.

6. United Nations Day is being observed yesterday. The day commemorates the official establishment of the UN, an intergovernmental organisation that plays a vital role in international diplomacy, humanitarian efforts, and global development.

United Nations Day is observed every year on October 24th to mark the anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter in 1945.

7. In Pakistan, security forces have killed nine terrorists in an operation in the Bajaur district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the terrorists.

8. In Bangladesh, the interim government led by Prof. Muhammad Yunus has banned the Awami League’s student organisation, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
