1. PM Modi emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability along the India-China border during a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on 23 October 2024. This meeting, held in Kazan, Russia, marked their first formal discussions in five years and took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.

2. India and 🇨🇳China signed a border deal after four years of negotiations. This agreement focuses on disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The deal aims to enhance patrolling rights in the Depsang Plains and Demchok areas.

3. Prime Minister Modi calls for strong cooperation among BRICS nations to deal with terrorism and terror financing; Addresses 16th BRICS summit at Kazan, Russia. The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

4. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with his Australian counterpart, Jason Clare, on October 23, 2024, in Melbourne to discuss enhancing cooperation in the education sector. This meeting is part of Pradhan’s three-day visit to Australia, emphasizing the significance of education as a core element of the India-Australia bilateral relationship.

Germany’s ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann on Wednesday said German authorities are in “very close contact” with the ministry of external affairs and the relevant youth authorities in connection with the case of an Indian girl who has been in foster care in that country. She has been in foster care in Germany for the past over 36 months following allegations of minor physical abuse.

1. The two-week United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP16) commenced in Colombia, bringing together environmental leaders from nearly 200 countries to evaluate historic commitments aimed at halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity. This significant gathering follows the signing of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework by 196 countries, an ambitious treaty designed to protect the planet’s diverse ecosystems.

2. NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 mission is currently delayed in returning to Earth. Severe weather in Florida’s splashdown zones has forced this delay. Consecutive hurricanes, Helene and Milton, have caused disruption and danger.

3. Tensions erupt in Bangladesh as protestors seek President Mohammed Shahabuddin resignation over former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh comments. The Anti-discrimination Student Movement, which played a pivotal role in Hasina’s ousting, held a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar, where they demanded Shahabuddin’s resignation and established a seven-day deadline for him to step down.

4. Four people were killed and 14 others wounded in a terrorist attack at the Turkish Aerospace Industries’ (TUSAS) headquarters on Wednesday. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denounced a “heinous terrorist attack” on a major Turkish defence firm’s headquarters near Ankara.

5. Pakistan’s Punjab government will give PKR 10,000 to 2,200 Sikh and Hindu families each in the province on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary and Diwali.
