1. Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 23rd Golden Jubilee Scholarship Day with the participation of nearly 200 students of Nepal supported by the scholarship. The prestigious Golden Jubilee Scholarship was established in 2002 to commemorate 50 years of India-Nepal economic cooperation.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent podcast with AI researcher and podcaster Lex Fridman is now accessible in multiple languages. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the aim is to make the conversation accessible to a wider audience.

3. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar witnessed the handing over of artefacts and documents related to Mahatma Gandhi by South Africa’s Phoenix Settlement Trust-Gandhi Development Trust to the National Gandhi Museum in New Delhi.

4. The world is witnessing alarming rates of glacier thinning, particularly in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region. A recent United Nations report marks that glaciers in this area are retreating 65% faster from 2011 to 2020 compared to the previous decade.

5. Chandrayaan-4 is India’s fourth lunar mission, set to launch in October 2027. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) aims to achieve a remarkable feat by not only soft landing on the Moon but also collecting lunar samples and returning them to Earth.

1. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a delegation of his country is expected to meet with US officials in Saudi Arabia tonight to discuss details of the partial ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow. Ukraine is sending technical teams to discuss the details of the partial ceasefire.

2. A government -appointed panel in Japan has outlined steps to prepare for a massive eruption of Mount Fuji, which last erupted over 300 years ago. The report, released by volcanologists and disaster-preparedness experts, warns that a large-scale eruption could blanket areas like Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture with over 10 centimetres of ash.

3. The US has lifted bounties on three Taliban figures, including the interior minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani, who also heads a powerful network blamed for attacks against Afghanistan’s former Western-backed government.

4. South Korea has declared a state of emergency as deadly wildfires continue to burn across its southeastern regions, killing at least four and causing widespread destruction. The interior ministry made the announcement in response to the extensive damage caused by simultaneous wildfires across the country, particularly in the provinces of North and South Gyeongsang and the southeastern city of Ulsan.

5. In Gaza, Hamas political leader Salah al-Bardaweel was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis.

Israel has said that it has hit dozens of Hezbollah rocket launchers and a command centre in southern Lebanon.

6. Several European countries have updated their travel advisories for the US this week following the detention of multiple European nationals, including German citizens, upon arrival. Germany’s Foreign Office said that it is taking the recent incidents involving German travellers seriously.
