1. Business experts in Dubai have responded positively to India’s 2024 budget, highlighting its potential impact on UAE-India economic relations. Chairman of the Tax Society UAE, Navin Sharma, commended the budget, particularly noting the reduction in gold import duty from 15% to 6%. This change is expected to boost gold trade between Dubai, known as the City of Gold, and India.
2. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that India’s longstanding relationship with Egypt has intensified in recent years. Addressing the gathering at the National Day celebrations of Egypt in New Delhi on 22 July.

1. In Ethiopia, the death toll from a landslide has risen to 155. Ethiopia is in the midst of a rainy season which started in July and is expected to last until mid-September. Incessant rains occasionally cause landslides in some parts of the East African country.
2. The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has described the international financial system as outdated, dysfunctional and unfair.
Mr Guterres said the upcoming conference provides a unique opportunity to tackle financing challenges. He also called for reform of the international financial system. Meanwhile, the conference, scheduled to take place in Spain from 30th of June to 3rd of July, next year.
3. A member of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party was killed and several others injured in an Israeli air strike in municipality of Chihine in southern Lebanon.
4. In China, death toll has risen to 14 in a rain-triggered flash flood in the southwest Sichuan Province.
5. The fast-growing wildfire in Southern California, western US state of California, has destroyed three homes and damaged four others in Riverside County. According to the City of Riverside Fire Department, the Hawarden Wild Fire had burned a total of 527 acres (2.13 square km) till yesterday.
6. United States Vice President Kamala Harris has praised President Joe Biden who dropped out of the race for the nomination for President from the Democratic party.
7. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has blamed her political opponents for deadly violence that swept the country during recent student-led protests against quotas in government jobs.
8. In Nepal, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has secured a vote of confidence with a two-thirds majority from the House of Representatives (HoR). A total of 188 out of 263 members of the House of Representatives (HoR).
