1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan on the sidelines on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit. He says relations between India and Russia will get better with opening of new consulate in Kazan.
2. Prime Minister reiterates India’s stance that Russia-Ukraine conflict should be resolved in a peaceful manner.
3. External Affairs Ministry’s Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal informed that during the meeting, PM Modi appreciated the Russian chairmanship of BRICS and conveyed his best wishes for the success of the summit.
4. Prime Minister Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.
5. India and Singapore agree to enhance industry cooperation, especially in automation and artificial intelligence.
6. India has dispatched the first tranche of assistance, comprising 30 tons of medicine and food items yesterday as humanitarian assistance for the people of Palestine. The assistance has been sent through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for the Palestine refugees in the Near East.
7. India’s foreign ministry said Tuesday (Oct 22) that an agreement has been reached with Pakistan to extend the validity of the pact on Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for another five years. The first agreement was signed back in October 2019 for five years to facilitate the visit of Sikh pilgrims from India to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur through the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
