1. India has condemned the horrific attack in Magdeburg, Germany, that has reportedly killed five people and injured over 200. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement described the incident as a horrific and senseless attack at a Christmas market.

2. PM Modi held a meeting with Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah on Sunday. They discussed cooperation in key sectors like pharmaceuticals, IT, FinTech, Infrastructure and security.

3. According to the External Affairs Ministry, nearly 2,200 cases of violence against Hindus and other minorities were reported in Bangladesh till 8 December.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, inviting them to participate in the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) scheduled for 8-10 January 2025, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

5. Seven Indian nationals were injured in a tragic car-ramming attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on 20 December 2024. This incident resulted in the deaths of at least five people, including a nine-year-old child, and left nearly 200 others injured.

1. United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and several other Gulf countries have imposed an indefinite ban on granting visas to people from at least 30 different cities of Pakistan. This follows an alarming rise in number of cases where Pakistani nationals have been caught begging or being involved in smuggling, drug trafficking, human trafficking and other criminal offences abroad.

2. Iceland’s new government, led by Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir of the Social Democratic Alliance (SDA), officially took office on Saturday. Ms Frostadottir, born in 1988, is Iceland’s youngest prime minister. Elected to parliament in 2021, she became SDA leader in 2022, running unopposed for the position.

3. Qatar has officially reopened its embassy in Damascus, 13 years after closing it during the early stages of Syria’s civil war.

4. The US Central Command announced on social media that its forces conducted precision airstrikes on a missile storage facility and a command-and-control centre operated by Yemen’s Houthi rebel group in Sanaa.

5. In Nigeria, the death toll from stampedes during two Christmas charity events has increased from 13 to 32. Incident happened when churches and individuals to organize charity events ahead of Christmas to ease economic hardship caused by a cost-of-living crisis.
