1. Now, Eligible Indians Can Get Long Term Schengen Visas : Frequent Indian travellers to Europe will no longer need to go through the hassle of repeatedly applying for Schengen visas. The European Union (EU) last week adopted a “more favourable” visa regime for Indians “with an established travel history, if (their) passport validity allows.” They will now get up to five-year validity Schengen visas.
2. Bhutan is hosting the Sustainable Finance for Tiger Landscapes Conference on Earth Day 2024 to mobilize $1 billion in new funding over the next decade for the preservation of tiger landscapes across Asia.
3. Following the sweeping victory of Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu’s ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) in the parliamentary elections, foreign affairs experts expressed concern about increasing Chinese influence in the island nation and reaffirmed that India should maintain its bilateral relationship with the island country until it “learns a lesson” from China.

1. The government of Israel has launched a new fund called Yozma 2.0 to encourage institutional investors, such as insurance companies and pension funds, to increase their investments in high-tech companies.
2. The Russian defence ministry in a statement said the “units of the southern grouping of troops have completely liberated the settlement of Novomykhailivka.” The village is located 20 kilometres away from Vugledar that Russian forces have been trying to seize.
3. Taiwan was hit with a major 6.3 magnitude earthquake in the early hours of Tuesday (Apr 23), according to the island’s Central Weather Administration.
4. Three Germans have been arrested on suspicion of working with the Chinese secret service to hand over technology that could be used for military purposes.
The arrests came a week after Chancellor Olaf Scholz travelled to China to press Beijing on its support for Russia’s wartime economy and to raise issues of intellectual property theft and fair market access.
