1. India Reaffirms Call for Dialogue, Diplomacy in Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Minister of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

2. Sri Lanka, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre held a festival of Carnatic music, the Tyagaraja Aradhana, at Saraswati Hall in Colombo. The festival is an annual aradhana of Telugu saint composer Tyagaraja.

3. The Eighth India-EU Cyber Dialogue was held in New Delhi yesterday. The Indian Delegation was led by Joint Secretary, Cyber Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs Amit Shukla, while the EU delegation was led by co-chairs Director for Security and Defence Policy at the European External Action Service Maciej Stadejek.

1. Sudanese army has recaptured the presidential palace in the capital, Khartoum, in a highly symbolic battlefield victory over the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the country’s catastrophic civil war.

2. Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz has escalated tensions in the ongoing Gaza conflict, ordering the military to “seize more ground” in Gaza and threatening partial annexation unless Hamas releases the remaining hostages held in the Palestinian territory.

3. The 🔥fire near Heathrow ✈️Airport in London that knocked out power to one of the world’s busiest airports is now under control. The London Fire Brigade has informed this. The closure of the airport would last until midnight. Hundreds of thousands of passengers faced flight cancellations after a fire knocked out power to London’s Heathrow Airport, forcing it to close for the day.

4. International Day of Forests is being celebrated mm. The theme for this year is “Forests and Food”-emphasizing the vital link between healthy forests and global food security. The United Nations declared March 21 as the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012.

5. In Sri Lanka: 107 Parties, 49 Independents File Nominations for 2025 Local Polls. Sri Lanka to hold local government elections on May 6th.

Sri Lanka National Election Commission said that the names of candidates for the upcoming local government election will be announced through a Gazette notification within the next week.

6. In South Korea, the opposition parties raised a motion to impeach acting President Choi Sang-mok, escalating the country’s ongoing political turmoil.

7. Israel continues ground operations in Gaza as Hamas fires rockets at Tel Aviv : Hamas has launched rockets at Tel Aviv, marking its first known response since Israel resumed military operations in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said one rocket was intercepted, while the other two landed in uninhabited areas.

8. Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano erupts.

9. Former Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) champion Conor McGregor has announced his candidacy for Ireland’s presidency. The announcement came just days after he visited the United States.
