1. Japanese Ambassador to India Hiroshi Suzuki on Sunday thanked PM Modi for congratulating Japan on its soft landing on the Moon. Suzuki stated that he looked forward to promoting cooperation between India and Japan in space exploration.

2. At the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni expressed admiration for the substantial contributions made by Indian returnees to the economic development of his country.

1. 7 Russians killed in Afghanistan plane crash : A DF-10 (Dassault Falcon) small aircraft registered in Morocco, crashed in the mountains of Topkhana along the districts of KuranMunjan and Zibak of the Badakhshan province on Sunday morning.

2. The IDF (Israel Defence Forces) reported that forces of the Israel Navy continue to assist the IDF ground forces operating in the Gaza Strip in both observing and attacking targets of the different terrorist organisations there.

3. Hamas justifies October 7 attacks in report: Palestinian militant group Hamas on Sunday (January 21) released a 16-page report justifying its October 7 on Israel as a ‘necessary step’ that was taken against Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. This is Hamas’ first public report about the October 7 attacks which resulted in death of more than 1000 persons.

4. Russian President Vladimir Putin showed his intention to visit Pyongyang soon, North Korea’s state media KCNA reported on Sunday.

Putin also thanked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for his invitation to visit as he met North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui who visited Russia last week.
