1. Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh held discussions with Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates in New Delhi. The meeting aimed to expand private sector and startup participation in India’s innovation push and biomanufacturing surge.
2. US President Donald Trump has indicated that India may significantly reduce its tariffs on American goods ahead of the April 2 deadline for implementing reciprocal tariffs.
3. Terrorist Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, has recently filed a request with Chief Justice John Roberts of the US Supreme Court to halt his extradition to India.
4. Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, in New Delhi. During the meeting, Mr Goyal discussed strengthening economic ties and accelerating Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between the two countries.

6. The number of Indian nationals who have been awarded a death sentence in the UAE, but the judgement is yet to be implemented, stands at 25, the government informed Parliament on Thursday.

1. The Parsi New Year festival – Navroz is being celebrated yesterday. The festival, which is seen as a harbinger of peace and prosperity, is the most widely celebrated festival of the Parsi community.
2. US Federal Reserve keeps interest rate unchanged : The central bank kept its benchmark overnight interest rate unchanged in the 4.25%-4.50% range, and indicated that two quarter-point interest-rate cuts were likely later this year, the same median forecast as three months ago. The Fed also forecast slower economic growth and higher inflation.
3. Israel has intensified its military campaign in Gaza, launching ground operations in central and southern areas just a day after airstrikes killed at least 400 Palestinians, making it one of the deadliest episodes since the conflict began in October 2023.
4. Recently, France made breakthrough in clean energy with the discovery of a vast reserve of natural hydrogen in Folschviller, Moselle. This reserve is estimated to contain 46 million tons of “white hydrogen,” a naturally occurring gas that offers a sustainable alternative to traditional hydrogen production methods.
